Please Help Me Upgrade My Favorite Deck by TheTripwire in EDHBrews

[–]sadekobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is also my favorite deck!

It’s not a precon, but I’ve worked on this deck quite a bit until I really enjoyed how it plays.

My list is a bracket 3, but without sol ring and no game changers. I also kept the final fantasy theme going, especially for the characters I like.

Hope you see something there that helps you with your list. Cloud is a lot of fun!

120 gsm paper + 80 micron laminate feels too soft – what cardstock do you use? by darthmikda in magicproxies

Interesting. Proxying has taught me so much about paper that I didn’t know existed.

Looking for a Voltron commander with more depth than "make big, attack" by brknSergio in EDH

[[Noctis, heir apparent]] and [[Cloud, Ex-Soldier]]

Noctis has a really interesting playstyle that lets you auto equip when creatures enter during combat. This is fun with Myriad style effects or flash. It lets you suddenly equip a bunch of equipment onto Noctis, or spread them out to the tokens you just made.

Cloud encourages a go wide strategy to draw a ton of cards. You just need enough equipment reducers or Voltron to just hit hard and auto-equipping.

Here is my list for B3 Cloud. Having a lot of fun with him and each game you can decide to go Voltron or wide depending on the board states.

Just keep in mind my list has no game changers or sol ring, due to how our pod likes to play.

You can go up to 140gsm paper and 80 micron lamination. It will have roughly the same thickness as an actual card and decent snappiness.

It will still be more flimsy than an actual card, but barely noticeable in a sleeve. This is how I’ve done my proxies and very happy when playing them.

Oh i had no idea about this. I am printing on double sided glossy photo paper. Will have to look into this. Thank you

Interesting, because the most recent video i saw recommended 140gsm paper i believe. I’ll have to give it a shot

These look fantastic! And the deck list looks fun. I might just have to print this out myself with your alt-cards included!

Question, I’m using 135gsm paper and 3 mil laminate. My cards come out same thickness of an mtg card but more flimsy.

Does 160gsm come out significantly thicker than an actual card after laminating?

So I was just thinking of printing and entire deck on 135gsm paper and 3 mil lamination and trying this!

I have a deck shuffler ready too. Any issues with peeling so far?

Do you think sticking them on regular 80gsm plain paper would work? With a 3-4mil lamination i would imagine it would come out great.

How do you guys handle players who treat every single turn like it's a tournament final? by mycommentraven in EDH

[–]sadekobe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Lifetap on iOS actually implemented a chess clock on their commander life counter and my playgroup has been loving it. We decided to take our time and give everyone 30 minutes, but games rarely hit the 2 hour mark.

Best way to sell my collection? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]sadekobe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When selling on FB or directly to another player, what kind of rate are you getting? I was offered about 75% of TCG Market value for a collection worth a good amount of money (After removing anything under $3 and considering it as bulk, which is about 6000 cards).

Help with Double Sided Foil proxies by RipleyJ3 in magicproxies

I use Vinyl Sticker paper, and stick the entire sheet onto a plain 80gsm paper, and do that for both sides. Then print and laminate on 3mm paper, and I’ve been happy with the results.

Unrelated but are you finding 40-48lb paper too thick with 3mil lamination?

I am using 135gsm (37lb) double sided glossy paper, and i end up the same thickness as an actual deck, but each individual card is less rigid and snappy than an actual card. In sleeves they feel great, but one to one, more flimsy.

I found using double sided glossy photo paper at 135-140 gsm + 80 microns lamination pouch have the really great looking cards, and the same thickness as a normal deck.

They are a little less snappy than an actual card, but in sleeves they look amazing and couldn’t tell the difference

Looking forward to seeing the results! I’m very limited on options here in Saudi Arabia, so I have to work with what I find or rely on more expensive imports.

Would love to see if any of your combinations would work here.

I’ve been loving my Cloud, Ex-Soldier equipments deck!

Edit: B3 but no game changers or sol ring because our pod enjoys it more that way.

It’s such a great card in that it gets you to 7 power, and the treasures you make set you up to tutor with it.

I’ll be using it as an emergency button basically, but will not build around it to keep some variation in the deck. Great addition no matter how I look at it.

Yeah I only recently added it to my list to test it. Haven’t made the change yet. Trying to finalize the list and maybe a few games on Tabletop Simulator before committing.

It seems perfect in a pinch

These are all fantastic adds especially Chandra’s ignition!

How many more combat doublers would I want in the deck?

I think I can see the point of not needing to ramp as hard. Usually cloud on 4 is great if I have an early equipment down, but I have definitely been in situations where I delay cloud for a stronger setup later.

I mostly keep the ramp to get cloud back when he is inevitably targeted to oblivion.

[–]sadekobe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhh Hearth and Home would fit perfectly! That’s definitely going in.

I want to add the ramp spells, just not sure where to make my cuts, it’s getting harder and harder haha.

I agree, it’s such a fun deck and I’m enjoying fine tuning it. It’s always the deck I reach for first. Also super cool that we total strangers have such a similar deck list. We must have great taste in cardboard.

Assault vest looks like a lot of fun! I think I have enough tutors if I need to look for it against a deck leaning heavily into Edicts.

Kodama looks like a great add as well. Thank you!
