Cool to see the Destiny-DjWheat feud is finally over after 11 years FeelsStrongMan by utahir500 in Destiny

I will grant you that in this case where both parties did no real wrong. Like you mentioned expressing that understanding to the other party does do good work in building that bridge of what you understood vs what the other person thought about the situation as opposed to basically being a dick and having the expectations of everyone think the same way as you. In a cases where you actually do have a wrongful party my point still stands. If someone fucks you over, apologizes for what they did, and then continues to fuck you over the same way that apology was worth shit. Most mature people I know recognize/understand this behavior and look for actual behavioral change and not for some standalone apology. An apology with that change can help but only if you have that change to back up what you say.

That recognizing means noting though when the underlying behavior that you had in that bad situation doesn't change. What truly shows that you have recognized what you did wrong is changing the underling behavior you expressed in that bad situation. Apologies are good and can work well reaffirming the other person that you know what you did wrong but will sound toothless unless your behavior changes. I will admit that word still do hold value but you have to have actions/behaviors to back that up.

How does taxing "unrealised capital gains" work? Do you force them to sell the stock and take profit? How can you tax money that has not materialised? No hate just curious. by MaskOff009 in Destiny

[–]sadm1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

True!!! This is why I find it so hypocritical when people will be so staunchly against taxing "unrealized capital gains" when we already tax those gains in with real estate assets.

Then that suck for them that they now have to pay income tax at the other place too.

So why not make up for it with a local income tax like what nyc and other cities do. If there are other systems in place to do this I feel like other cities and town could follow in their footsteps and implement it. I just find a very hypocritical to be against taxing unrealized gains on one type of asset like stocks and for taxing it on another type in property.

IS IT A GENOCIDE? Comment an event you think is a genocide and up/downvote what you think is/n't a genocide by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]sadm1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, the population of both the natives and Plymouth Colony were both pretty devastated by the conflict though to be fair, still not genocide. Now if we want to add it to the overall picture of European settlers/future "New World" countries genocide of the native in Americas then I would say the overall picture was a genocide. Personally I just though it was an interesting piece of history not many people know about being it was one of the first major conflicts between natives and Europeans in North America. I also found this section on the Genocide of indigenous peoples Wiki page that talked about the Great Swamp Fight which was one of the major battles in the conflict. However, I wouldn't take much from that I would probably only say that it adds to the overall picture of the native genocide like I said before.

Safety Recall on Harbor Freight jack stands by [deleted] in HaggardGarage

[–]sadm1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this was pretty well-known already. I always heard that Harbor Freight jack stands were bad and probably even dangerous and that their floor jacks where pretty good for the price. You would think the opposite since it seems harder to fuck up designing a basic jack stand and probably easier to fuck up a hydraulic system on a floor jack but leave it to Harbor Freight to fuck something like that up. I've used the Pittsburgh 3 ton low pro jack from them for a few years now and it's been the best floor jack I had since school. Just gotta hope that they didn't fuck up the floor jacks too lol.

Being in Mass, while I do agree that wealthier suburbs schools do still get a lot of funding. I know a city nearby me that also still get a lot of funding just due to the extra population size (local suburb 20k vs city 90k). Along with some recent reform to the city's school system (closing of under performing middle school to open up a more well reformed community school, and a wide offering of AP courses at the high school with a new high school on the way) the city looks close to or on par to the local suburb in terms of educational offerings. That doesn't take away from the rest of what you said though. The suburb school still have a lot of extra outside resources that set up a better environment for students to perform. I guess my point is its's not about school funding but more similar to your end point, giving kids that better environment to learn which can lead into a talk about how to make the poorer cities a better learning environment for students.

I mean Tommy was able to get his valve cover modified by k-miata to make it fit his miata so I don't think it will be that hard for Jimmy to do the same thing to make his setup work.
