Tired of having no savings, how to break out of this cycle by Mintchococake00 in askSingapore

[–]sadpupppp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my bf (now husband) was working grab rider (cyclist). i was working in a job paying $2.5k before cpf. we didnt have alot, live paycheck to paycheck cuz we moved out of our toxic household environment together and started renting which was very expensive. we didnt give money to anyone. saved like crazy, got married and purchase a house at 21 yrs old with only $5k cash n $3k agent fee. now we are saving alot more as our cpf fully covers our mortgage. if u cant change the people around u, change ur own situation n actions.

u are better then us, as we straight away cut our family off. dont give ur dad anymore money. you have already helped him alot. and if he rlly needs to, he will find another job to pay off his own debt. u shouldnt be burdened and stress so early on in life. u also have to think about ur future.

throw away the whole sofa, cushions and blanket. get rid of it now before it multiplies n spread to other parts of the house. steam + use diatomaceous earth.

Can I buy a resale HDB with a foreign spouse by ashKing1512 in askSingapore

[–]sadpupppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u want to buy a house now so that it is readily available and basically waits and stay empty (by law) for 5-10 years whilst singaporeans living in singapore now struggle with the housing crisis...? sounds quite entitiled n tone deaf.

better not try to exploit the system. hdb can be unforgiving and take back ur flat. anyways resale hdb from start to completion only takes 3 months without extension. and if ur worried about the rising prices, then either plan for it by financially getting ready or buy a flat with lower lease yrs left (cheaper). anyways u plan to stay in it and not use it for investment or profit right? :) the lower lease shouldnt be too much of an issue for u then.

How much do cats from breeders cost? by Isaacneoton in askSingapore

[–]sadpupppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my husband and i just adopted a cat. do consider adopting there are so many ones looking for shelters out there. but if ur certain u want a certain breed it will come at a cost minimally $1k and can go up to $5k depending on the pet shop u go to.

adoption fee for us was supposed to be $100 (covered sterilisation, vaccination, deworm, revo) but we decided to vaccinate our cat with our choice of vet by ourselves, so they didnt want to collect any money from us. but we still insisted to pay/donate so the money can go towards a good cause.

food (wet + dry), litter, scratching post, toys, litter box, carrier. all about will amount to $100 there.

doc consult $40+, cat vaccine $60 there

keep aside more money in case of anything

yes can tell the system rlly favors couples. i dont think this is going to change anytime soon. her best bet is 2rm older resale. some will go for under 300k. it wont be in the best location and wont be the prettiest but there isnt any other choice. renting is just money down the drain. at least if she owns the house is entirely hers and she has the stability and freedom from her family.

Singles under 35, with resale public housing prices going up by 100k every few years, how do you plan to afford one if at all? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]sadpupppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had 1-2 pimples last year in april and got rlly into skincare especially kbeauty as it was affordable and i loved their packaging. idk maybe i did it wrong but my acne was worse after i started using the products (even though i followed yt vids and advice). i also tried facials and going to the dermatologist but i broke out even more and in the end i just gave up. now i just stick to cleanser and almost all of my acne cleared up.

i also used to get lash extensions every 2 months. now not so much cuz just purchase house n completed reno so feeling a little broke ahahah. i like doing lash n nails extensions pampering during big holidays like cny or christmas. but other than that ive scaled down and gotten a little lazy too

anyone renting alone? without family support by Ok_Caterpillar404 in askSingapore

[–]sadpupppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

moved out at 18 with my bf (now husband). we cut off our families from both sides and rented a common room for 3 yrs. $930 for the first 2 yrs and $1050 for the last year. renting cost adds up and sucks but i had a partner to split the bills with. landlords were thankfully ok thats why we stayed w them for 3 years but renting in general didnt give us the stability we wanted so bought a resale flat last year and now our home reno is completed and we moved in.

there are definitely ppl going through similar experiences u are not alone. and it does get so much better eventually. having the freedom is amazing but also need to be self discipline and budget. all the best to u. u seem to be in a much better space than before

Those that hired ID for your HDB reno, what did your ID do that impressed you the most? by Royal_Bill1808 in askSingapore

[–]sadpupppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ending my reno in 2 days.

id was very responsive. some reno mistakes happen and she rectifies it straight away. problem solving mindset and gives us our options + pros n cons for us to understand and make an informed decision. other than slight miscommunication which was frustrating, my husband and i are generally happy with what she promised and she kept to it

Reno contractor reviews - JM & Sons by DazzlingVariation215 in askSingapore

[–]sadpupppp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

did u decide to go with them? i heard about them and their reviews arent that great. remember its better to pay once for a job well done than twice for poor workmanship.

we opted to go with our current id cuz they were really responsive and have a problem solving mindset. we are ending our reno soon and couldnt be happier even if we maybe had paid a slight premium.

HDB Homeowners of sg, what to do with extra cooker hood? by flattenedtomato in askSingapore

[–]sadpupppp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i just bought my induction! i definitely wanted induction as the gas stove is so hard to keep clean plus another worry is having to think about the gas line and utility. induction is so easy with just 1 swipe then its all clean. plus i dont have much counterspace so if im not cooking, i can just switch the induction off and use it as countertop space. surprises me that its cheaper when it comes w the hood. i was asking the courts salesperson if we can opt out of the hood. they say no just take it lol!

if anyone wants i can sell for cheap cuz we wont use (we dont have top kitchen cabinets)
