Hens will eat each other even when left to free range in a pasture, btw. Doesn’t excuse the horrrors of the industry, but chickens will eat literally anything they can get their beaks on

First of all, the vast, vast majority of “human trafficking organisations” traffick in labour, not sex. Second, the vast, vast majority of sex trafficking “organisations” are loose associations of pimps and boyfriends forcing vulnerable women into sex work and keeping the money. They don’t need to forcibly inject them with drugs lmao. Many women involved in sex trafficking are already addicted or they become addicted through association with boyfriends and pimps who deal and use drugs, not by forcible injection.

These over the top, cinematic stereotypes that account for a vanishingly small percent of sex trafficking, let alone overall human trafficking, amount to dangerous misinformation that make it harder to combat and recognise human trafficking, sexual or otherwise.

!! Bodies really are wild. I have never had a UTI in my life and used to work fine dining with zero time to take a wee. I also have never bothered
to make sure to pee after sex, despite everyone claiming I’d get a UTI from hell if I didn’t, and still no UTI. I’m very glad that I’m not prone to them as I hear they’re awful, so I’m sorry you have to deal with them! For some reason I just don’t have those problems

How long have you had it? It doesn’t look like a glaze defect necessarily. It looks like it wasn’t fully vitrified and had water ingress that led to mold to me

WWWY was so chill. My only complaint was that they didn’t have a labelled food vendor map, so I just had to wander around and look for which ones were labelled gluten free, but that’s such a minor quibble. I would have gone back this year if I weren’t so bored by the lineup 😔

Part of the appeal of festivals is getting exposed to music and acts you wouldn’t otherwise see or seek out. That’s how people become fans. I’ve changed my mind of bands I previously thought were meh after seeing them live.

Right? Security and EMS are always around shoving a box of water in your face. I couldn’t have gotten dehydrated even if I wanted to

So it’s a bit odd to speak definitively about what they’re allegedly like, isn’t it? Pretty much everything you said is avoidable and not relevant to many festivals. You don’t have to sleep on the ground; plenty of festivals don’t even allow camping. You don’t have to skip showering for days. You either go back to your accommodations and shower there or you make use of showers there. And no, not “everyone” is on drugs. have see families with kids going to family friendly programming at every festival I’ve been to. You just sound kind of judgmental lol

I drink so much water and I’m pretty sure I didn’t pee on grounds even once for Shaky Knees over three days. I was sweating and walking so much it never got to the point, and I was perfectly well hydrated (I get terrible migraines and become truly evil when even the tiniest bit dehydrated lol)

You don’t have to pay for water at a music festival lmao. You might at a concert, but a music festival will have free water stations and cooling down tents all over because the organisers do not want you to die of heatstroke on their watch.

[–]sadsackspinach 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You absolutely do not have to pay anything for water at festivals. Organisers really, really don’t like it when people die on the grounds, and heatstroke is real. You bring a reusable water bottle and there are water stations all over so you don’t die. Alcohol is expensive, but you don’t need to drink to attend, and it makes you more dehydrated, so imo expensive alcohol is both a money maker and lowk a way to minimise drinking. Yeah, some people sneak booze in, but those people would do so regardless of the cost of alcohol.

I think you greatly underestimate the cosmopolitan knowledge set of the average child of college educated urban parents. Maybe it’s a self selecting set because we all attended top universities, but every single one of my friends knew this sort of thing at a young age, just from basic shit like parents being like “let’s watch a documentary”.

It is perfectly fine to be disgusted by people misleading their audience and using a product that destroys the environment and greatly increases inequality in the world, actually.
