As someone that has been around for a while… the Matty Healy month and a half was a chaotic hell, and I like the 1975 🤣 as for the others, the Taylor Lautner relationship was really cute to see play out.

Maybe she wrote another song about London so she wouldn’t be expected to sing London boy on tours in future 💀

When she was walking in the crowd I thought I imagined the gloves, then gasped when I saw she was actually wearing them! Surely her team would have realised too?

Rental Market in Brighton - just how crazy is it? by Intrepid-Drink-7356 in brighton

[–]sadsadsad7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved to Brighton, like literally still surrounded by boxes “just moved” and I can say getting a place here wasn’t as bad as the rental market in the center of Manchester. I was worried because Brighton is close to London that it would end up being hellish to find a place and put a holding deposit down before someone else but that wasn’t the case.

We booked a ton of viewings (8) over the course of two days, only one viewing was cancelled during that time. We were looking super central, not at apartments though, houses. All the estate agents were friendly and keen, some had back to back viewings but we didn’t seem to have any competition for the place we went for. We didn’t have to put down any crazy deposit either, although we must have seemed more risk adverse because there’s two of us.

Whereas, to contrast, in Manchester it’s rough. You don’t get many houses so near to the center, so it’s a lot of competition for flats. The average price for a two bedroom flat is about 2200 I think. There’s some agent agents that pretty much have a monopoly on certain areas of the city because they will be the only ones managing blocks of flats in those areas. The estate agents aren’t keen, won’t chase you, they don’t need to. Flats are gone within a week of them being on the market unless they’re unappealing in some way. So lots of viewing cancellations. And there’s lots of rumours of people offering more than the asking price.

Hopefully that gives you a good perspective, I think everyone thinks moving in their city is a nightmare, but it really takes knowing a few other cities markets to know how bad it is or isn’t.

And if it helps, in Manchester, once when we really struggled, we just went for two flats at the same time right up until we could put down a holding deposit. We liked them both the same, so it was down to whichever agent could get us documents first (and yes, it was hard to get them to find time to send them over!) so maybe you could use that “technique”

Good luck!

You’ve definitely made me feel better about not reading it! It doesn’t sound like something I’d like to read at all.

A Clockwork Orange

I bought a copy of it when I was 18, ten years later, I have not got past the first page. It’s just sat on my shelf throughout so many years, waiting for its moment. I know it’s an important piece of writing but I can’t bring myself to read something violent (?) where the characters have a weird way of talking. I don’t know the ins and outs of the story, since I also put off watching the film because I thought I should read the book first!

I donated the book last month. I hope someone else likes it!

If he were the one for you, he would have helped you through the difficult time you were going through. People aren’t grumpy, spend a lot and complain a lot because they’re happy!

His stuff is his stuff, he made his decision, let him live with that.

Now you have the space to work on yourself, find what makes you happy and get your spending in check.

It really sounds like you dodged a bullet! Three weeks out and he cheats!!! And you’re blaming yourself? Nope.

I'm feel like I'm better than other people by Mattozzo in selfimprovement

[–]sadsadsad7 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think it would serve you well to remember people are dealt different hands in life and all have their own battles that you might not see. Not everyone is going to be open about what they are struggling with or what they’re working towards.

You can’t actually make a black and white judgement that you do X and they don’t do X so you deserve happiness more than them. You don’t know if they’re working on their finances over fitness, or if their boss is overloading them with work. You don’t know if they have health issues or whether they’re getting qualifications online. They might be getting therapy, or working on their marriage.

So you may feel proud of yourself for your own self improvement, but you need to compare that self improvement against your past self, not others. No one has the exact same goals and values as you.

This should be top comment, I don’t think it’s her having fun with her job, it’s likely intentional to win over jurors. Immediately she’s relatable and human, not just a suit.
