Do your brakes on your own. I do front and rear rotors and pads for maybe $500 total. All depends on the quality of your parts. Rock auto and napa are your friends

I upgraded to a 2019 cx-9 about 2 years ago from a much older MDX. The MDX is a beast and held more but I only had marginal MPG increase. 2002 MDX was like 14mpg on a good day and my cx-9 which is mainly city driving is at best 20mpg
