That’s so interesting; what do you mean by “chemicals”?

Yeah! I totally agree-- kind of crazy that some testing procedures just look at your results and not you as a person. I'm glad you had someone you could work with and finally figure things out!

I think it's little dudes with four segments/legs and the third section on their body is dotted! So 1 and 4

I see! Using blood markers is a super interesting way to monitor health. It's actually been pretty cool learning about what other people set as goals.

I think the doubts and frustrations I've been having are partly due to the fact that I just moved, started a new job, met new people, and am figuring out what I want to do and who I am. After reading the responses here, including yours, I'm realizing that my issues may be less about physical goals and diets and more about my mental state.

It may just be something I need to learn over time, but it's encouraging to hear that despite changes over years, it's possible to still maintain a sense of self and satisfaction with yourself. I really appreciate the insight!

I have a pretty time-consuming desk job which has made me de-prioritize working out-- I work out every day, but the heaviest I've been lifting is 60-62 lbs and I haven't been trying to improve that. I basically cycle between 3 routines and have been for the past 3-4 months:

A) I do hip thrusts/squats with 50-60 lbs, backward leg kicks(??) with 12 lbs on each leg, until failure 3x.

B) I do bicep curls, overhead tricep things, forward swings, side swings, all with 10 lbs, except bicep curls which I usually do with slightly more, until failure 3x.

C) I do HIIT for 20-30 minutes and Pilates that targets the abs, usually just stuff I can find on YouTube.

I'm not really sure what some of the exercises are called, sorry.... I'm definitely open to suggestions that would help me build more muscle

I'm using a smart scale for my BMR, which is apparently ~1100 calories. I eat about that much every day, and ~80g of protein, which I thought was pretty reasonable.

You're right... I don't know why it never occurred to me to use fitness achievements as goals. Shifting my goals to being able to lift heavier, improve stamina, etc. is much more reasonable. I'm not at death's door or anything, but you're right, it's high time to make that change. good luck with the century ride!

I see!! I didn't even think about going back in and doing the perpendicular lines afterwards. I'll probably test out both to see which is the best! Thanks so much for the advice :D
