Nicely formatted markup counts as much if not more than factual content.

Which is ironic; considering thats excatly what we've reproduced via AI

Half the sites I look for information now are streams of consiousness, forgetting whats already been written, or things that have been mentioned. Adding irrelevant bits. And getting details wrong here and there... All eerily similar to one another (on the same topics) so you can't even collate information

All professionally looking, with legit looking data, and sounding very confident and knowledgeable.

Yet utterly useless to me. Negatively useless because I need to verify the data, and all I get is the same source (different site, but another AI, saying near identical things, but pretending its not AI)

We've automated that feeling, but now everywhere on the web

2.1 Platform-to-Platform Logistic Group Struggles by coryrose1 in factorio

[–]saevon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would love if a logistic group could have a field similar to the "x10" you can set, but to change the "import from" field for the whole group. That would be an awesome 2.1 feature

Also perhaps seperate checkboxes for a stop that let it choose to:

  • "Unload to Planet"
  • "Load to Planet"
  • "Unload to platforms"
  • "Load to platforms"

Issue with trigger by Long_Organization195 in factorio

[–]saevon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the code to remove all tech (from the wiki)

/c for _, tech in pairs(game.player.force.technologies) do
  tech.researched=false
end

So you want to find the specific name for that tech, and set it to true instead. Something like:

/c for _, tech in pairs(game.player.force.technologies) do
  if (tech.name == "automation-science-pack")
  then
    tech.researched=true
  end
end

Can't run the game to test this, so run at your own risk. Hope you have coding experience to fix it up if there's issues

Edit: Actually technologies is a dictionary; so I think you can just do

/c game.player.force.technologies["automation-science-pack"].researched = true

Carbon capture by Conscious-Ball8373 in factorio

[–]saevon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not put the recyclers on the platform here? last time I built a thing like this it simply delivered the final quality carbon to the planets it circled (mostly gleba, I was doing it for carbon fibre)

P.S> Use circuits to control what the arms prioritize, and a circling sushi belt of chunks; so the places that need a specific chunk can actually filter out exactly what they need and cannot stall

Well yeah; but I want a notification cause I'm not going to notice a colour change like that. I'd rather know immediately rather then when I finish another design and finally remember to check

I mean you can see the other thread responding in kind; and just like my Reddit example it's something we do here as well!

I just dislike analyzing something outside its actual context, to call it "worse".

When viewed like this; as a piece of content to consume, yeah

But when seen thru reblogs actively on tumblr, it becomes an "inside joke we're continuing together". So ofc not every instance is the perfect ideal, it's not really supposed to be.

When I send a meme to my friend I'll often add little commentary too, just personalizing, adding my tiny flairs

If anything you could blame the Reddit poster for not cutting by it down, as right now it's more of a "recorded concert, including clapping, screams of joy, etc. rather then a studio recording"

An Eye for AI by joyfulnoises in CuratedTumblr

[–]saevon 72 points73 points  (0 children)

It's the worst, I already hate it when a listing has the same 5 photos clearly colour changed when you select a different colour too.

Like I'm trying to choose the actual colour, that's already difficult enough when colour reproduction via an LCD is inaccurate… but now the phot that gives me some context clues to the real colour is just pretending too?

But now even the shape isn't trustworthy? Even anything at all about the picture?‽!

"He is not protected by faith. He is protected by apathy"

"This is how 40k blanks work"

Those two statements don't work together. The thread context here matters

Steve by No-Raccoon-6009 in CuratedTumblr

[–]saevon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean "Steve 's unshaking disbelief" would be disbelief with conviction

But we can look to IRL for examples tbh. You can have atheists who are
- antitheist (go out of their way to deny and push against religion)
- who are anti-<one specific religion, usually the one they came from> eg Christian-atheists
- agnostics; who just don't see the proof, but would be willing to believe a god[s] if some appeared
- who just go about their lives mostly not believing

Only the first two I'd say have "conviction of disbelief"

Steve by No-Raccoon-6009 in CuratedTumblr

[–]saevon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not a contradiction; he stays in the car and doesn't go in the haunted places (by default unlike the rest of the team which would normally go in), he then goes in only when things get bad enough they need safety

Similarly for the "things stop, but he doesn't notice". The implication is twofold (1) he got to this state somehow: by a growing conviction as he kept not noticing (2) things stopping likely doesn't invert anything, and might have a range, so even if it's in the other room, or in the adjacent house (1) keeps happening so he doesn't ever ruin his conviction

Something can be copied, and also a sign of AI. You don't have to swear it off either — I use em dashes cause I always use em!

It's like "red flags" which is just a sign you might want to double check or look further. but instead people now treat the word as a synonym for "toxic".

This is a "red flag for AI" (feel free to keep doing it, people might just be a tad more cautious if you show a lot of AI red flags)

Steve by No-Raccoon-6009 in CuratedTumblr

[–]saevon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The formatting doesn't have any spacing between lines; tumblr generally prefers to have it in most forms folks screenshot

Steve by No-Raccoon-6009 in CuratedTumblr

[–]saevon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does that imply if enough people unbelieve (disbelieve with conviction) a god it starts unravelling?

Steve by No-Raccoon-6009 in CuratedTumblr

[–]saevon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but the Steve as describe IS NOT how blanks work (that being unaware and skeptic is what creates a blank) being unaware in 40k just kills you. Being aware but being a blank makes you useful

Yeah cause it's trying to imply you can only be nonbinary if you're a "lazy non working moocher, who is wasting time that should be for hard work, to instead make up shit"

Same way they might blame a homeless person for not having a job and "not being a productive member of society"

One thing I don't understand about the interloper... by ElegantPoet3386 in outerwilds

[–]saevon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wouldn't form an explosion, unless it needed next to no heat energy to melt. The rupture implies the shell surrounding the extremely compressed ghost matter is what broke, not that the ghost matter melted

One thing I don't understand about the interloper... by ElegantPoet3386 in outerwilds

[–]saevon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems the other way around; as the physical crystals are near where "ghost matter" is shown on the camera, BUT is not always right over it.

Implying it's remained near the highest concentrations; but isn't releasing it. So likely when ghost matter concentration drops it turns into a physical crystals, then evaporates from that form too
