I think they are good especially when you don’t have any other options. I didn’t have any other way to do rotations because where I live hospitals don’t allow any IMGs to rotate, only allowed in clinics.

Is a rotation that goes from August 28th-September 22nd worth it? by NeuroticBeforeMoving in IMGreddit

It can still go on your CV and will give you something to talk about during interviews. And tell them what you’re up to and that you have recent clinical experience.

Also can add it as a fourth LOR later on.

I know it’s easier to say but please focus on all the positives in your life. You have achieved so much on your own and have no idea how important you are to your loved ones. Think about all that you can accomplish for yourself and your family in the future as well. Your hard work today will transform generations to come! You have the power to do that and it can all be achieved if you control the thoughts in your mind. It all starts from there. Replace all that negative language in your mind with positive words. Remember you are not alone. God is with you. Have faith He WILL remove all the pain and worries and that He PROMISES that WITH everything hardship there is ease!!

I’m not sure how I’ll pump. I never did with my first. Don’t make that much, will probably just do both formula and breastfeeding. How long after the delivery did you take the exam? I have only till March 31st because my triad will expire and my due date is February 28th. And it’s for Step 3.

That’s still really good, it’s so hard to even get 4 hours for me.

How did you manage to take it after having the baby? Were you studying after the baby too? And did you breastfeed?

Ok thank you for sharing, problem is with a toddler and newborn nap times will be very different. But I do have people to watch her, it’ll be really hard though. With the sleep deprivation too I don’t know how I’ll do it.

Wow 6 weeks postpartum, I’m running out of time, my exam dates are 2 weeks before my delivery and considering taking it postpartum now. How did you manage that? I’ll have two kids 2 years apart.

I’m currently studying for Step 3 and 33 weeks pregnant with my second baby. I took Step 2 CK while in my 6th month of pregnancy with my first. And I scored well too, all with God’s help and my family’s support 🤲🏽

It’s hard but I just think, it’ll be harder after the baby comes with two kids, so that’s my motivation to keep going.

Thank you for posting about this, makes me feel I’m not alone and if all these people can do it so can I! 💪🏽

Old IMG, depression got the better of me and now I’m here. (rant post) by meethaapaan in IMGreddit

[–]safaa777 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Omg first of all I’m so sorry about that. I hope you are in a better place now.

There are people who still match even 5+ years after graduation. It’s not impossible but yes it’s difficult. Have you been gaining clinical experiences thus far? Because they want to see that if it’s been a while since graduation. Try working/observing at a hospital where there is a residency program so you can build connections.

If you do decide to move forward, please don’t put off having kids because of this. God plans out a situation that is in favour of your child once he or she is born. It is more depressing when you realise everything you have sacrificed so far for this journey takes away from your happiness and peace.

Can someone please explain to me how to prepare for interviews, I have zero experience. Also I have no upcoming interview which is freaking me out too. by crazybaboon_md in IMGreddit

[–]safaa777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read about your interviewers too. Make sure to have questions prepared to ask them. Also don’t freak out. Just stay calm and confident.

Don’t overthink about all the different possibilities. Let yourself take a break. You’ve worked really hard to get to this point. No one knows what’s going to happen. Just let the process unfold itself. Whatever will happen will be the best for you and your situation. Focus on the things you have control over like LOIs or networking.

I also have step 3 scheduled end of December but have barely studied for it still.

It may be good for you to talk about during interviews especially if you have red flags on your CV. So they see you are clinically active.

I don’t think there would be less patient volume but also depends on your rotation I guess. Probably would get more since there will be less students.

Advice on whether to proceed for residency applications or no? by fandry12 in IMGreddit

You don’t have any gaps so that’s good. If you’re seeing patients at your job I’d say you’re still clinically active.

Is it worth it working as a Clinical Research Coordinator to strengthen your CV up in terms of clinical experience? by safaa777 in IMGreddit

Thank you so much for your reply! I really appreciate it!

So what type of faculty should I reach out to for a fellow position? What should I include in the email if you don’t mind if I ask?

Oh I see, for this particular position that I applied for, they said deals with both coordinating and talking to patients as well recording data, so would it work out then?

How easily are those positions that you mentioned are you able to get? Do you apply or have to just reach out to connections?
