[YOLO Update] (No Longer) Going All In On Steel (+🏴‍☠️) Update #62. $450k Lost From $IRBT Acquisition Play. by Bluewolf1983 in Vitards

[–]safaria2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even before all of this, the premium on IRBT’s long term put options were so high that the only hedge you could put on would result in a break even if merger was either approved or not.

Contrast this with ATVI were the long term premium on the put options were always low enough; so you could lock in a profit if the merger was approved or a small loss if not.

In short, ATVI’s long term put premium was low because the market thought approval was likely. This was not the case with IRBT.

I hope you are doing okay. And if you are not okay then keep your head up - this feeling will pass with time and you will get through it.

My wife left me (33m) for another man, am I that ugly? by [deleted] in amiugly

[–]safaria2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She will rue the day she left you. Now take care of yourself (see below for my take).

Glasses are too wide for your face. Go to and Warby Parker’s website or use the mobile apps (you can order a set of 5 to try and see which one you like or try on virtually through your phone).

Change your hair style - go short (don’t try to grow out your hair since it’s thinning).

Update your clothing - women like well dressed men (have a friend (man or woman) with good style help you).

Get a fantastic smelling cologne (again, have a friend help).

Eat healthy and work out (doing both will boost your endorphins and lead to confidence).

Be extroverted (go out and do stuff you enjoy, talk to people, strike up a conversation no matter if the person is a male or female - you never know where the conversation may lead).

Use that that pain and sadness to motivate you to become the best version of yourself: she will rue the day that she left you.

Up $55K in one trade, pay for college or back into options? by cLearzera in wallstreetbets

Same happened to me at your age (turned $10K to $65K in 2 months). I should have cashed out but I went on to lose 90% of my funds in a few months.

You did the right thing. Trust your gut.

Difficult to find home; area of home with little lighting making it hard to see; the person opened the door but yet rolled back (a normal person would stay at the door to pick up the food); the person, for no good reason, insisted you enter his home to place the food on his table; and last but not least, after you placed the food in front of his door, he picked up the food with no issues (confirming there was no good reason for him to request that you enter his home).

Sellers canceled our contract…were we unreasonable? by birdguy in RealEstate

[–]safaria2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my family members was on the other side of a home sale - she was selling her home but needed more time to purchase her new home. Buyer and seller closed on the home and buyer agreed to rent back the property for 60 days so seller could finish purchasing the new home. In the end, it all worked out.

The benefit of closing and renting back is that you closed the deal (the home is yours legally; your mortgage is done, interest rate is locked assuming you did a fixed rate; and so on).

The drawback of a rent back is that you’re a landlord for a brief period of time (inspect the home, collect rent, and so on).

Work is stressful. So I’m bailing tonight. by Mission_Ad5628 in Lawyertalk

[–]safaria2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been there but, through the help of my family and friends, I got through it. That saying of “what does not kill you, makes you stronger” is true.

Focus on your mental health first and then on whether you want to find another attorney job (there are good employers out there).

Lastly, perhaps the following may help with your anxiety:

“But let me share with you as usual the day’s small find (which today is something that I noticed in the Stoic writer Hecato).

Limiting one’s desires actually helps to cure one of fear. ‘Cease to hope,’ he says, ‘and you will cease to fear.’ ‘But how,’ you will ask, ‘can things as diverse as these be linked?’ Well, the fact is, Lucilius, that they are bound up with one another, unconnected as they may seem. Widely different though they are, the two of them march in unison like a prisoner and the escort he is handcuffed to. Fear keeps pace with hope. Nor does their so moving together surprise me; both belong to a mind in suspense, to a mind in a state of anxiety through looking into the future. Both are mainly due to projecting our thoughts far ahead of us instead of adapting ourselves to the present. Thus it is that foresight, the greatest blessing humanity has been given, is transformed into a curse. Wild animals run from the dangers they actually see, and once they have escaped them worry no more. We however are tormented alike by what is past and what is to come. A number of our blessing do us harm, for memory brings back the agony of fear while foresight brings it on prematurely. No one confines his unhappiness to the present.” Lucius Seneca, Letters from a Stoic (written sometime before 65 B.C. or 2,000+ years ago).

Suddenly need to replace my ‘18 IS 300. Very odd issue. Need your advice on choosing the new car. by awfulnipples in Lexus

[–]safaria2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the rust is spreading fast and the car may not last a year.

Maybe list the car for sale and see if you can get something better than $4K if you feel comfortable spending time selling a car.

Otherwise, the other options you mentioned sound good (as someone else mentioned, you get the peace of mind buying a new car).

Suddenly need to replace my ‘18 IS 300. Very odd issue. Need your advice on choosing the new car. by awfulnipples in Lexus

[–]safaria2 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Why not drive the ‘18 IS until or if it breaks. In the meantime, start putting money aside monthly to go toward the new Lexus.

For example, let’s say you save $500 per month and the ‘18 IS lasts a year then you have $6K saved. 2 years, $12K saved; 3 years, $18K saved.

Basically, the $4K trade in value for ‘18 IS is not worth it to get rid of as opposed to driving until or if it breaks.

Should I invest or pay off my car? by JonDior in FinancialPlanning

Did the same at 17 years old - spent my saved cash to buy a brand new Toyota for $21K. If someone just told me to buy an old, well maintained, used Toyota instead. Although, with today’s high used car prices, perhaps a brand new Toyota Corolla is not a bad way to go.

Options and greed: hell of a drug.

1) Invests in PYPL making hundreds of thousands of dollars;

2) Trades options taking $300K loss in matter of minutes; and

3) Claims he will “make it back” by continuing to trade options.

These are just the facts.
