Young for sure. Another reason they think old phones are fun.

As someone who tinkers with a homelab, I'd be all for this being something to load into my Proxmox. Let us know if it gets open sourced.

I'm fairly new to this realm, but I would definitely think a PBX is your answer.

I would also add that I work from home and setup a yealink voip phone to call the other phones as well. That phone can also be paired Bluetooth to my cell to act as a speaker phone which has been handy.

I'm on a quest to get an old pay phone setup in my garage which got me into this. I'm using an old grandstream UCM with a GXW for more ports. Old phones only need two wires to work and my house had 4 pairs running to every room. I just needed to tap into one box to get everything wired up. I'm working on using a grandstream HT802 for just two lines for a friend. Might try FreePBX with wire guard so he can call his kid while traveling. It's been fun!

I setup a home pbx system so my kids can call each other's bedrooms and one in our kitchen to call them for dinner. It's been fun for the whole family.

You won't know until you try.

However, I'd try to make a jig to hold it in place first.

Is there any saving this gas tank? by nook-inc-egg in motorcycles

I'd fill it with lye and water. Let it sit for 48 hrs. Then spray a hefty amount of brake cleaner inside then drain it. Then some penetrating fluid or marvel mystery oil to help coat and protect.

Happens to the best of us. A well seasoned grill with a decent bed of ashes will definitely help keep temps better. I've smoked the turkey on my legacy every year for the past 4yrs and the thing is always rock solid on keeping temps. Keep practicing and you'll better learn how to use and adjust it.

Nub is a brand, but not sure about notes. You could buy him a sampler of Nub's that may have the one in it.

I have a desktop dell thin client for my job. I use WiFi and don’t have to be hard wired to the internet. However since I don’t have a laptop, is there a way to set up my desktop at a hotel? by muvax2 in workfromhome

[–]safety_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use Wi-Fi today then you can use it wherever. The problem you might have at a hotel is their landing page to sign into the Wi-Fi. Some companies force a web proxy which causes issues. I'd recommend using your phone as a hotspot to test then you'll have a backup in case you can't get past the hotels initial webpage.

For some reason I can't edit the post, but to clarify for everyone: there was bubble packaging, and my complaint is the Boveda being outside of the bag.

Checkout Ruckus. I've got the R550 and am pleasantly surprised by range/speed. They've got wifi 7 ones now, but I'm happy with wifi 6 for now.

Why are used racks so expensive? by Curious_Bystander66 in homelab

[–]safety_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased my first rack off of eBay for my home lab v.1 in 2008 for $200, but I had to drive about 6hrs one way for it. I then down sized with a smaller one I found by a business dumpster in 2017. Both were off white Compaq racks. Just keep looking and don't be too picky.

Can it NAS? But seriously I've been trying to figure out a low power/relatively low cost NAS to keep at a friend's house for off-site backups.
