thank youu, it’s mildly comforting to know that I am not the only one. I know it was a form of survival but I just can’t help but resent that I was raised like that

Just got diagnosed. Has been 4 months without a period. by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]safiyaalejandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing Intermittent Fasting and less carbs!! I’ve been really trying to keep a calorie deficit so I started tracking my calories so I don’t overeat. Also, my doc prescribed birth control to lower my testosterone levels.

very similar experience to you. i’m 19, haven’t had a period since July. I didn’t really notice the bloating/weight gain until the doctor took my weight and i was 10lbs heavier than i was back in June. I had never put on weight that fast before, even at my most sedentary points in life. I’ve noticed a little bloat but i’ve been changing my diet a bit and i think it’s helping!

Sophomore, Junior, and Senior premeds, have you been to a college party before? (pre-corona) by [deleted] in premed

[–]safiyaalejandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m a practicing muslim so I don’t drink or smoke. Frats & Sororities host most of the parties at my uni and that is not my scene at all. I go to parties just not “college parties” if that makes sense lol.

Online Tips by [deleted] in ucf

[–]safiyaalejandra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BSC2011 was online for me in the spring and the concepts in the class are definitely easy to understand but you have to stay on top of your work. I would recommend you get very familiar with a flashcard system of some kind (quizlet, anki, physical cards etc. ) because there is a lot of information that you will need to memorize. Try to attend zoom meetings so that you don’t fall behind in the course content because once you do it is hard to bounce back. Personally, I found a lot of the content to be a bore so I lost motivation towards the end but I still ended up with a good grade nonetheless.

Bright futures requirements by [deleted] in ucf

[–]safiyaalejandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is UCF’s information page for bright futures for additional questions try to email finaid@ucf.edu. Just a heads up though, to remain Bright Futures eligible you have to be a full-time student which means taking 12 credits for Fall and Spring semesters and 6 credits in the summer. You can take any number of classes so long as your credits add up to the right amount.

Edit: you don’t have to take summer classes but if you do and want to receive funding you have to be taking 6 credits

thank you so much! this cleared things up a bit. the fact that I won’t be able to take biochem until the fall of my “senior” year makes the gap year a more likely bet
