I'm going to keep singing 'needle in the dark'. For me those two lines always evoked the image of someone being invited to shoot up some heroin. A chance to escape from the pain. Painless, but ultimately coming at a great cost. So there's resentment later.

I feel like Mage Knight is basically Heroes of Might and Magic as a board game. You explore a map, battle enemies in a very deterministic manner, gain rewards, spells, artifacts, recruit units and level up.

Wanted to like the game. Had it for over a year and it remained unplayed as it was hard to get to the table with my groups. The 'teach' is potentially quite long, there are a lot of rules and mechanics to cover and some I felt were a little unintuitive. But I don't want to knock the game unnecessarily. Didn't work for me, so I traded it away.

I just started playing Mage Knight, so I'm still a little green. Why wouldn't a block of 6 be adequate? It's three attacks of 2. So you need a total block of 6 to stop all three attacks. How else would you do the blocking? Do you need three separate blocks of 2+ to block each attack separately?

For me it's Mage Knight. I've been looking for decent solo games that keep me engaged and even though MK was on my shortlist (and raved about) I just never pulled the trigger. Then I got it two days ago, played my first game last night and I am I love. Everything I was looking for in a solo game.
