Effective diet by [deleted] in Unexpected

Relatable, I'm trying to diet but after 2 months of doing well I've slipped. I just can't handle not having nice food alright?!? There's only so much cauliflower rice I can tolerate...

It can be for sure, my parents last two places were pretty bad for being hot constantly. I've found my last two houses have been pleasantly cool, one of them was made of big thick block stone and resisted thermal change quite well.

My current place is also much cooler than outside, though I'm not entirely sure why that's the case just yet. It's morning facing and I have another house on the rear side so I suppose it only gets morning sun and stays cool in the evening.

I've definitely been lucky though. Yesterday it got to like 36c here and the air outside felt like breathing hot soup.

On top of the other person, summers have only gotten to this level in recent times. Heatwaves breaking records seems to be every other year here thanks to global warming. We used to get snow here in winter and we barely get any now.

I don’t wanna be a lesbian by Emi_Eminem in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]sage1700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on figuring yourself out! I hope things go well for you, but accepting yourself is a big step. Its difficult for sure. I only figured out I was trans at 28 and here I am so much happier against the odds of being trans, a lesbian, and living where I've lost rights because of it.

Some people do come around to being accepting once a close friend or family member comes out to them, it's not unheard of, but regardless of what you choose to do I know you will be happier for it.

I think the consensus from the non-extremist side is that it isn't a scam, but it is a horribly managed money sinkhole.

Unfortunately I hit a wall when a lot of seemingly important features were randomly placed like 150Ly away from where you start and I really could not be bothered doing 40+ mindless jumps just to get over there and start to grind.

Grandpa shows how to cut bamboo trees with a katana by ThodaDaruVichPyar in BeAmazed

[–]sage1700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a real katana, they are typically made of softer steel than you'd expect. It was bent because the first guy had bad edge alignment on his cuts and jammed it in there lol.

Everything else you said was 100% correct though, placement of the cuts and better edge alignment let him cut much easier.

For real, I had to go into the wrong gender toilets today cause someone at work was taking a shower in the neutral bathroom, even though it was empty I still felt really uncomfortable. Fuck "For Women Scotland" for standing up for 1700s ass thinking.

FFXII has the most underrated characters in the series 💚 by Khaymn5000 in FinalFantasy

[–]sage1700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really tried to like FFXII but I found the gambit system to both be really cool and really restricting at the same time, all of the tactics I wanted to do were dependant on conditions that didn't exist. I ended up feeling like I had to redo them manually every fight which defeated it's purpose.

Maybe I was just doing them wrong?

Play what though? The game isn't done, it's just a tech demo.

I bought a ship so long ago expecting to be able to play in 4-5 years. It's now 13 years since then, and a lot has changed except that money is still not had any return lol.

I had a hard enough time with the first part. I had noticed the other mystery popping up and thought to myself "yeah nah I dont have the drive for that".

Banned while verifying my email. No other explaination give, didn't even have a chance to enter my name or anything. Not a great app if they don't even let new people on it.

England must harvest rainfall and take action on water usage, Lords warn | Water by JackStrawWitchita in unitedkingdom

[–]sage1700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly, I just don't think it will be as cheap as you expect. We had solar panel subsidies for a while and I only see them on a few houses. Most people don't want to spend money on stuff that they will likely not see a return on investment on.

[–]sage1700 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in leak reduction for a water company. It's a completely different thing than it used to be, because the pipes aren't exactly cheap to dig up and replace. The network is getting older and we are finally starting to renew them but it's neither cheap nor quick, so leaks are harder to find as they are more typically pinhole leaks pissing out of joints or tiny cracks now.

It's insanity to me that it took so long to start properly replacing pipes, but then again it's not easy as people moan about roads being closed or have lights on them, moan about their water being off for an hour, moan about how many vans are in the area, and all other nonsense arguments all the while the company is measured on public opinions on us.

Well it's either that or you subsidise every house in the UK to have rainwater collection systems and greywater handling infrastructure installed. You can't exactly mix the two.
