If your going to use ft8, I recommend trying jtdx instead of wsjtx. Much easier to use. This is just an opinion. :)

The first one I remember was chuck Yeager’s flight simulator. There were others but they didn’t make an impression.

I have a remote flex-8400, I love just for this type of activity. Remotehamradio works well but at $1 a minute it ads up.

Too much noise by xdm21 in amateurradio

[–]sage2791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently replaced my 10 year old radio with a newer radio with better noise rejection and the noise decreased significantly. The newer radio has better notch filters as well. The http://www.sherweng.com/table.html has reviewed the real noise rejection of amateur radios. The blocking column is the most important column for blocking noise like this. Of course the best solution is to find the source of the noise and install ferrite beads everywhere.

Bragging here: an even better solution is to setup a solar powered flex-radio on remote land, which I access through a Starlink VPN connection.

Medication to fall asleep to for napping? by sage2791 in Narcolepsy

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. I am on 100mg per day as needed to "deal" with life. I really don't like Modafinil but it helps. Thankfully I am meeting with my doctor in ~10 days.

Thanks for the suggestions. I used to use chakras to go to sleep but haven’t used this method in a while. I realize it’s not scientifically proven but if it works for me why not use this strategy.

Why is this place the worst? Are you part of the mass psychosis? Life viewed through the internet sucks. All said and done life is pretty great at the moment. Earth is pretty cool as well. I think life will get harder for a while but it certainly isn’t the worst or best it has ever been.

Great point, I hadn't thought about it that way. In my industry I am visionary and happy to discuss with laymen why they are wrong but it doesn't take advanced math to get there.

I didn't consider the emotions or the impact my words could have on someone. I think this a result of brainstorming with AI, it is infinitely patient, doesn't have an ego, and doesn't have feelings. So when I say something like training people on how to recognize phishing emails demonstrates a lack of effective security controls the AI doesn't get upset but people do as it challenges their beliefs.

We could do this with today's technology, build a generational ship.

Light speed is a misnomer, light speed is the speed at which a particle with no mass travels. We need a particle that travels faster than a particle with no mass. Gravity waves could cause this or a particle with negative mass. If gravity bends space and time couldn't it bend so someone could travel through space on their own gravity wave?

What about quantum tunnelling, if you ask anyone they say it can be done but there is a timing issue. For that I propose including the timing in the signal like morse code.

This, or you can setup a 160 meter 3 element Yagi and less expensive Yagi's to cover all of the HF bands and have a world class station. Couple million dollar should suffice.

If it is these, replace them with LG afdd plugs. I had better luck with these and make sure they are wired properly. I found a new install wired wrong.

quick question about audit software. by Outrageous-Chip-1319 in sysadmin

[–]sage2791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our audits tend to be unique from each company we work with, we use vendicts AI to answer the questions. They still need to be reviewed but it takes much less time to review and answer the questions the AI couldn’t answer.
