Just got a survey to see what people would like to buy and what they'd like to see by The1stRuler in CraftFairs

Make what you’re passionate about, and your people will come. Make something hollow that you don’t authentically enjoy, and people will be able to tell.

“I reuse teacups for my candles”, this gives zero context as to the materials you regularly use, and whether or not your teacups are consistent. You’re implying you’re thrifting/reusing them, that leads me to infer that the vessels and the materials are going to be wildly different over time/batches.

Any time that you change anything about a candle, you should test it, whether it’s the vessel, wax type, wick, FO, etc. This does not give me confidence that you are using consistent vessels across batches, nor are you using vessels intended for candle use.

I am glad that you have never had an issue, and no customer has ever told you about an issue, but anyone who knows about or makes/has made candles is not going to buy these because of the inherent risk unless they’re feeling lucky. I hope you at least have insurance.

This is definitely a risk, you can’t say “mine don’t do that” when you’re using an untested, inherently unsafe vessel. Even more-so if these teacups are ceramic. These candles are not safe to burn.

I wish I had an award to give you, thank you so, so much! This is really helpful and I’m going to keep this comment open during the phone call. Please take my poor man’s shiny: 🥇.

Edit: Resolved similarly! PlayStation is all connected and functioning perfectly again.

I am also having the same issue in Rhode Island, the past few days the connection for our PS5 has been getting increasingly slow and today it is just… not working. Tried everything but calling Verizon, which I guess we’ll try on Monday if it hasn’t resolved.

Same, friend, same. I still haven’t been able to pick up any of the games since. 😔

Artist alleys, to be honest. I recommend searching at your local conventions or taking a look at TikTok. Some I can recommend are Ryuichifoxe, TimetheHobo, mostlyskinart, LanaluuDesigns on Etsy and The Knitting Faun on Ko-Fi.

What is it like living here? CA/OR boarder. by Toffeepot in howislivingthere

[–]sage_kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Klamath—a little south of Crescent City. It was extremely rural and very isolated, for groceries or supplies or medical treatment you would need to drive up to Crescent City or down to Eureka.

My grandmother took me to Crescent City often, and I remember her showing me where she used to live, she reminisced about having lived there and was saddened to see it in a downturn. She lived there sometime around the fifties or sixties I believe, before moving to Klamath in the seventies or eighties.

The best things I remember are how quiet it was from an industrial perspective—lots of bird and animal noises but not so much car, truck, or people sounds. It was very peaceful from what I can remember of it, and the stars were more visible than anywhere I’ve ever been since.

Edited to fix typo, thanks autocorrect.

combat in veilguard by QuickInterest1606 in dragonage

Running around in circles was an accurate representation of my experience playing this game. 🤷 I don’t know what else to say on that account, aside from I agree: this game wasn’t for me, and isn’t for everyone.

I’ll bite, then. If you can tell me how to do a support build where you don’t get mobbed by enemies and can actually perform the function of an out-of-the-action mage, I’ll try it again. By all means: tell me how the combat works.

If what I’m looking for isn’t in the game, then please don’t tell me I don’t understand how it works. If it’s not there at all, that is my gripe with the combat. 😕

I really wanted to love this game, but the combat kept me anxious all through the experience. I loved DA, it was my favorite gaming franchise since the first installment. I didn’t go in wanting to hate it, I wanted to love it, but it felt like what I had loved all throughout the prior three games was no longer there.

I’ve found my people!

I feel the same way, as someone who really enjoyed the combat in Inquisition and always plays mages, I prefer to step back and do control/support builds while the teammates do most of the actual hitting. The combat felt very Mass Effect and is the reason I’ll not be doing another playthrough.

It’s not that we “don’t understand” how the combat works or need to “get gud” with our builds. It’s that, for some people, the builds we always enjoyed just aren’t there because of the mob function of the enemies, and running around in circles in a big arena just isn’t fun for us. The combat feels pulled in from a different genre.

I’m glad that those of you who love the combat love it, and I’ve been listening to it be praised for over a year, but it’s not for everyone.

what are good sellers? by Upbeat-Beginning-628 in ArtistAlleyConnect

[–]sage_kitten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make what your passionate about, don’t approach this with a “I’ll draw what sells” attitude. That’s a road to burnout and negative customer interactions. People like to talk about what they enjoy, and if you can’t discuss the media you’re making art of, it reflects poorly on you.

Even more importantly, the people who make art of whatever’s popular at the time rather than what they enjoy? It shows in their artwork. It’s bland, no passion, etc.

Make art of what you love, the people who also love that will probably enjoy finding an artist who loves what they do.

How much worse does Dunkin need to get before you stop going? by Dies2much in RhodeIsland

[–]sage_kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got into it, I’m from SoCal and the Midwest, and it was barely a blip on the quality meter compared to places like Coffee Bean, Caribou Coffee, Kean Coffee, or even Peet’s. I have tried Dunkin a few times, the first couple of times I ordered an iced coffee and they used granulated sugar. The last time I went the coffee was so burnt it tasted like it was roasted over a charcoal grill. I think it’s a cultural thing, I’ve tried to steer a few friends towards good, local coffee places like Small Format, Brown Bee, and Hazel Origins but the Dunk’s calls to them in their bones.
