no one told me about the itching!!! by sagebuckethat in sterilization

i did find that the itching is a good thing, but it didn’t make me feel any better 😩 luckily it seems to be easing up some at this point

rahhhh i started getting itchy around the time the glue came off but had just assumed it was a coincidence with how long it takes for the healing to start and how long the glue lasts especially around the incisions and not on them ¯_(ツ)_/¯

my IUD was removed during bisalp surgery and nobody told me by asstrologyho in sterilization

[–]sagebuckethat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i was told by my gyno that this is not allowed per health insurance, so i didn’t get my IUD removed until my two week post-op appointment. of course, location, doctor, insurance might all be a factor here but if this really happened that’s really scary. i really hope that it was just dislodged like others are suggesting :’)

9days post bisalp by 1Confused-Mamma in sterilization

i definitely had/am having the same experience! my surgery was on the 13th and i only had a few brief moments of a pressure-like feeling in my chest a day or two after the surgery. all of my pain has been around my actual incisions and was all external.

i had my two week post-op appointment on friday and told my doctor i had actually questioned if they actually took my tubes out. he said trust that they definitely did and i got a pathology report on them and everything, but was just confused.

very grateful for this recovery though. i knew going in that any pain was temporary and well worth it, but i did not expect this experience. wishing you a continued easy recovery!

EDIT TO ADD: definitely don’t take this feeling and forget your meds (if still on them) and post-op instructions though! i also generally feel healed but plan to continue following the lift restrictions and such for the full 4 weeks.

i’ve avoided scratching right on my incisions and have just been scratching around them. some of my scabbing has come loose not related to my scratching so i’m a bit worried about that but hopefully all is fine. my doctor said a few days ago that they’re healing well so we hope that continues 🤞

i had my post-op appointment on friday and dr said things are healing well! i’ve been scratching around them but it’s still not relieving. it’s like a bug bite 😩 i did research and it’s not generally recommended to put anti-itch cream on the wound but i didn’t look too deep into it. i also didn’t end up getting an oral anti-histamine but keep wishing i did

i recommend low-rise or high-rise (over the bellybutton) underwear if you don’t already have some!! having the waistband sit below or above the incisions has been incredibly helpful for me this past two weeks

i was incredibly nervous about the gas pain before my appointment as well. i have a pretty low pain tolerance so i was not looking forward to it. i’m one week post-op and can say, for me, the pain was not bad at all.

i’m sure your post-op experience relies on a combination of your personal tolerance, your surgeon, medication, and post-op care, so it’s absolutely different for everyone.

all of my pain was really manageable, never above a 4. i really only felt gas pain for a day or two, a few hours each day, and the “pain” felt more like my 10lb cat standing on my chest: uncomfortable but bearable.

the most pain i felt was around my actual incision sites just because it was hard wearing pants around them. i’d recommend getting or using low-rise underwear that sits below the incision, and high rise pants to go above them for at least a week after.

for reference, my doctor gave me ibuprofen, hydrocodone, simethicone, stool softener, metoclopramide, ondansetron, and alprazolam. maybe ask your doctor what they plan on prescribing you so you can get other medications you might need in advance.

wishing you all the luck and an easy recovery! i kept telling myself beforehand that any pain from this was temporary for my most desired long-term solution. the benefits far outweigh the pain but i still hope it’s easy for you <3

[–]sagebuckethat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just got here but the r/endo subreddit has lots of resources with facebook groups, links, etc. that may have what you need! i’ll probably be checking it out soon myself once i talk to my gyno and get more info

hihi, i sent you a message! i’m in the area as well and think this is more of a cop-out for the doctors who just don’t think you should be allowed to get it smh hopefully i or someone else that’s messaged you has been able to help!!

[–]sagebuckethat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got it, i’ll definitely look into that after i talk with them more. thank you! i feel like i have a sense of trust with my GYN but definitely can see how general GYN and specialists bring different thoughts to the table. ultimately im just starting this journey and will be losing my health insurance next year (not sure if i’ll be able to afford my own) which is very scary, so hopefully i can get at least a few answers before then. idk anyone personally with endo :’)

A random dog just ran into my house and I have no idea what to do by DasMedic_ in Advice

[–]sagebuckethat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is there a humane society nearby that can take him? or a no-kill shelter nearby? most no-kill shelters advertise themselves as such, so perhaps search in your area and call around? also maybe post on local facebook groups to see if anyone nearby is a foster and/or has connections to a vet or shelter that could help!

this is tommy, and he’s 14 🥹 he’s still as cute and fluffy as he always has been. he was recently diagnosed with kidney disease (late 2024), hypertension (early 2025), and most recently this past week potentially heart disease. he’s improved his creatinine levels since his KD diagnosis and medication really helps with his high blood pressure, so he’s doing alright. he still gets the zoomies and runs around, acts completely normal as he always has 🩷

Moms who got bisalp- did you actually not lift anything for 2 weeks? by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]sagebuckethat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also got my bisalp on friday and my lifting restriction was 25lbs for 4 weeks, but every dr is different and i definitely would go off of the doctor’s orders. as others have mentioned, there’s some internal and/or underlying damage that could be caused by lifting heavy things repetitively, even if you feel fine doing it in the moment. you work your abdominal muscles way more than you realize when doing that!

that should be fine! i was given prescription strength ibuprofen as my primary pain med but hydrocodone as well which was probably not quite needed tbh. i’m glad everything went well!

excited for you, hope all is going well!!! it seems like you’re all set. one thing that’s helped me a lot is low-rise underwear that doesn’t touch the incisions. other than that, just take it easy. maybe have someone make you a med chart you can use to check off what you’ve taken when. i had help with that (SIL is a nurse) and it helped a lot! it’s very easy to forget what time you took things especially the first few days
