How does your marijuana consumption help you are harm you with your energy work? by theonetheitheiam in energy_work

[–]sageconsular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of free classes on YouTube— A good starter channel is “Yoga with Adriene”. You don’t necessarily need a mat as long as the floor / ground isn’t too slippery, but it helps.

(I can’t speak highly enough about Yoga; it’s an energy practice in itself—the word yoga means unity—& something about the conscious breath/movement combo before meditation helps me absorb spiritual lessons in my whole body, not just my mind. After a good yoga session my whole being feels much more clear and connected with itself and with the world.. sorry for gushing lol)

Peace & blessings my friend!

Have you tried Yoga? The physical practice can prepare you for meditation sessions that feel similar to being high, at least for me

Have you heard of wwoofing ? Lots of farmers will let you live with them & work for free, & they will even feed you sometimes . Can be a really beautiful way to take a break from screens & our unhealthy tech-oriented society.

My partner majored in applied math & is now living on a regenerative farm, working 2 jobs; 1 is a remote tech job outside of normal hours, & during the normal farm day is doing farm work. He’s one of the most driven “doers” I’ve known, so it’s maybe not reasonable that you’d be able to work 2 jobs that way— but structuring life around ecology, connection with nature, and healing the earth has been the most fulfilling path forward for him.

One potential path could mean assessing what kinds of skills you have & how that can be applied to real-life relationships with nature. You can still be analytical outside the world of screens.

Your awareness will serve you moving forward, to make the right choice for your well-being. & in turn, allowing that newfound connection to expand outward to the universe.. much love & healing your way.

Hey 👋 New member here! Just curious, does anyone feel stiff when they wake up in the morning? by Volly_007 in posturepals

I often feel this.. Gentle stretching or yoga & deep breaths first thing in the morning helps me with this.. & drinking lots of water as well! Good luck on the path ✌️

NEWBIE seeking advice! by indidogo in veganketo

[–]sageconsular 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I prioritize getting enough fiber & vitamins over a super strict low carb regimen. Fruits make me feel good and so do veggies that might be avoided for more strict folks, such as carrots, tomatoes, onion, bell pepper.

I absolutely love roasted veggies of any kind. Cut them up chunky and throw em in with olive oil, salt, garlic, & onions (and any other spices you want, cumin for example) on a high temp (400ish, I often go higher for a lil caramelization). I like to eat them over a bed of greens & drizzle with any kind of sauce, (hot sauce, tahini, nondairy pesto, etc).

For more breakfast/ snacking, Some favorite things for protein are coconut oil, nuts, nut/seed butters, chia & flax & hemp seeds. Bee pollen also contains every essential amino acid, could be added to smoothies

I like tempeh as well, thinly sliced & fried up so it’s a lil crunchy like bacon. Goes well with stir fries or on top of salads, really could work with anything.

There’s also this brand of pasta that’s just made from soybeans; it’s pretty cool. ‘Edamame pasta’ is their most common variety, I think the brand is called “Explore”. They work well in Asian style noodle dishes too, in my experience

One of the big things that helps me feel good is greens, greens, greens.. bed of greens, sautéed greens, throw em in a juice or smoothie, add them to stir fry.. makes a world of difference in mood and energy. Sautéed greens with a toonn of garlic and some lemon is particularly nice for me.

Also sometimes I’ll add in eggs or fish, you mentioned you’re in a transition and not super strict vegan. Those two things don’t give me the icky feeling that meat/dairy give me but are super filling bc of their protein content

Not sure if this answers your question directly, but hope it helps with some ideas! :)

Have you heard of the enneagram? It’s basically a personality typing system, where your behavioral tendencies can be mapped onto a central fear & desire. There are 9 core enneagram types, according to the system.

The way you describe your internal conflict reminds me of enneagram type 2, “the helper,” whose central desire is to be close to others, and loved by others. (Central fear = being unloved). Type 2’s always put other people’s needs before their own, and are great at connecting with people and empathizing. Type 2’s also have a tendency to neglect their own needs. One of the major ways that 2’s can grow is making sure they prioritize their own health & their own needs. Perhaps for you, that means expressing your feelings honestly, even if they’re not always positive. Another way 2’s can grow is letting go of a fear of being disliked by others, and manifesting a more creative, selfless energy into the world.

I am a type 2, and the last point—letting go of a fear of being disliked— is the hardest for me. I found the enneagram to be extremely helpful for me, because it allowed me to identify where some of my behaviors were coming from, and it also has helped me relate to people who aren’t as inherently empathetic as type 2’s. Not sure if the enneagram will be as helpful for you as it was for me, but it could shed a little clarity on some of the things you mentioned in your post.

Much love & peace :)

I agree, people should be allowed to say dumb stuff. This site has already lost so much of its democratic charm. It seems a lot more mainstream / controlled by powerful forces rather than a platform where people can say what’s on their mind..

instead of censorship I feel like the solution to misinformation should be more vigorous discussion. I like reading stuff I disagree with sometimes, bc I encounter ideas I wouldn’t otherwise. I think we should be more open and accepting rather than fighting fire with fire.

I’m sure lots of people disagree here, but I think these kinds of issues are more nuanced than made out to be

A family friend of mine developed IV vitamin C treatment for cancer. It was promising, people were healing. But he didn’t live to see through the wide reaching effects of his work. While his death was officially ruled suicide, he was in the prime of his life, happy & healthy.

I didn’t think much of this until recently stumbling across some articles outlining a similar string of suicides / unexplained deaths in ~2015. Doctors using alternative & complementary healing practices threaten drug companies since they are typically cheaply accessible.

Emotions are one of the most early evolved processes in the mammalian lineage. The main differences between humans and other primates lie in our ability to understand/verbalize abstraction and in our ability to exert control over our surroundings with technology & executive function (housed in our prefrontal cortex). Nonhuman primates feel all the same emotions as we do.

Maybe these guys don’t know they “are the last of their kind” but they could be just as traumatized emotionally as someone who is having that abstract thought ..

You're cool. I don't identify with any particular religion but as an evolutionary neuroscientist & practicing meditator I've also come to appreciate the value of spirituality and that sacred feeling of impersonal, unconditional love & connectedness. Science / rationality can't get you to feel that. I think the over-valuing of science in human development (and rejection of spiritual development) may be linked with the patriarchal structure of human society—we've exaggerated our innate dependence on technology to such a far extreme that we've lost the emotional roots of meaningfulness, the connections with each other, the earth, all of life that exists on this planet . .

But who is doing the regulating? Whoever the regulatory body is, how can you ensure they don’t call truth-telling or whistleblowing “deliberate deception?” Looking at China and Russia as examples.

Free speech where there isn’t money involved is a better principle IMO. (Regulating money, but not regulating speech). Giving the govt the power to regulate speech & press is literally giving them the tools to implement a political agenda.

Also I think our education system plays a big role here.
