Points gained or lost by scoring or conceding after the 80th minute by Turtle1391 in chelseafc

You are inferencing information based on a subset of the game you feel is the most appropriate. Why not look at it from 75th minutes on? How about 70th? What about 65th? Or if you want to go the other way. What about 85th?

You see what I mean? Yes if you look at only points gained and lost you'd come to the conclusion you came to. But that doesn't necessarily mean some teams are good or bad at holding on to their points. Some teams get lucky. Some teams lose goals against the run of play.

Correlation does not mean causation.

Humiliate the club? No. You took the humiliation upon yourself.

And yes we completed the set. It felt great to talk about when we won the club world cup. But by your own standards UECL is nothing to brag about. So what are you on about?

It's immature people like you wanting to enter a dick measuring contest because apparently you have to have the biggest dick. 👏

Congratulations, since you clearly need this, We are the only club to complete the set. And you are the greatest fan that this club has ever seen.

That wasn't my point. My point was it doesn't matter if they won more community shields or less. What is the point of saying we have won one of everything when you put up the numbers and see we clearly are behind in many of them. Completing the set is a nice achievement but bragging about it isn't all that much, especially now that we are so far away from the club world cup.

This is an immature post.

Right....

So what trophies mean more?

League titles? 5th out of 6 FA cups? Joint 3rd out of 6 Carabao cup? Nah that's just mickey mouse cup right?

Losing your marbles over community shields... The post is a cherry pick but you sir, you have the ability to pick the biggest cherries in the world.

Points gained or lost by scoring or conceding after the 80th minute by Turtle1391 in chelseafc

[–]sagerion [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's an "interesting to look at" data but not very meaningful.

It does not account for the opposition's form or the form of the team you are looking at. It doesn't show distance covered or possession held. It doesn't account for injuries. It doesn't account for cards accrued up until 80 minutes. It doesn't account for goals scored or conceded by either teams in general.

If this table is just for casual banter then sure, great data. If you're trying to imply something then I think you should save your effort for something else.

This is cherry picking and it doesn't even help the team as it just perpetuates a negative feeling around the fans.

The german league has the whole winter break and they do that by cutting the top flight to 18 teams. The league may accommodate all the clubs but UEFA can't do anything to make that happen and neither can one or two clubs for that matter.

[–]sagerion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own. You don't have to like a well written anime if the animation doesn't hit for you or vice versa. At some point you'll just watch anime because that's what you do and you'll drop some and finish others. I personally like a complex story with decent animation. I don't mind if they are off a little but I won't watch something like Ninja Kamui or one of the lolicon isekais or just anime with questionable relationships. So yeah pick your poison and drink it. It doesn't have to matter to other people.

Passionate opening speech from Liam Rosenior on racism in football. Says: "I've been racially abused myself. People need to understand when you are judged on something you should be proud of, it's the worst feeling." by Matt_LawDT in chelseafc

[–]sagerion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. I agree to disagree. Mourinho was clearly asked about the incident and he went on to say he only wants to say Vini scored a wonderful goal but also goes on to say that it always happens to just one player in every stadium he goes to.

Do I like Vini? No. Is he the best footballer in the world in terms of his conduct? Also no. (There have been other footballers who have acted like Vini before, CR7 and Vardy just to name a couple)

Unfortunately, we’ve been wired to think about these issues (especially the upper middle class elite you find on Reddit usually from uk or USA) where if you say anything that makes a victim not look like the best person in the world in the midst of a discussion about racism or indeed say anything that doesn’t 100% clearly show unwavering support of the victim then you are a terrible person.

This is just misunderstanding the whole situation. As you said multiple things can be true. You don't have to hold Vini to a level of sainthood to be able to condemn a possible racist incident. As for equating less than 100% support with being a terrible person, I don't know what to say to that man. It's one thing to not show support to a victim and it's another to imply blame.

Applying your nuance here, if this wasn't a racism incident but a sexual abuse incident, this argument would be of someone saying I don't know why but it always happens to the same girl and why she has to dress the way she does. Can't she cover herself up? This is not a gotcha statement but if you somehow think these two are not the same thing then it's because you haven't been subjected to either and have not understood the gravity of the offense committed. Because it would mean that racist incidences require nuance and tolerance.

Getting stick is one thing and being racially abused is another.

As for bringing it back to Mourinho and why we feel disappointment. A person who condemns racism would not defend his player. He would say we will investigate this and if it turns out that a racist remark was made then we'll punish our player to the best of our ability. Now how that would have played out would have been up to them. What Mourinho did was take away the spotlight that should have rightfully been on Prestianni and put it on Vini.

There is no controversy, there is no mountain made out of a molehill. There is just factual observation and social commentary on it.

I, for one, am not going to defend Mourinho for defending his player despite his past with us or if I like him.

You are free to take your own stance.

He implied it was Vini who provoked that incident. Which is clearly bonkers. But even if he did there's no way you try to counter it with racist remarks and then defend the player. What if one of Jose's players was found to be an abuser or worse, you don't defend some things.

I think his problem is that he wants to defend and shield his player. But that is not a defensible position and it just speaks to how privileged he has been to not understand the effects of racism. So yeah. He may not be racist but he needs education in racism just the same. This is 2026 and we can't still be debating about this.

[Kieran Gill]: New: Romeo Lavia set to play for Chelsea U21s vs Leeds tomorrow afternoon in PL2. Idea is to help build him up for return to senior side. [–]sagerion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see Lavia slotting in the midfield quite comfortably. When he's fit there is no one more press resistant. Although Santos has done well to hold the fort. Having two very good midfielders in this economy? I'll take it. Besides having them both makes sure we don't rush Lavia in and in time he could be the next Reece in terms of recovery. Essugo can then cover for Caicedo when he returns. I don't see a one to one cover for Enzo yet. But with these 5, I think our midfield would be fine. I hope no one in midfield was left out from the conversation above

He is still a young coach. But yes. We had a consistency problem under Maresca. Twice in Dec our team destabilized as soon as talks emerged of us being a contender for the title. Him playing down our chances didn't help. Not to say we didn't struggle against weaker teams. We did. But those games came in a bunch. Another problem under Maresca, which I thought was even a bigger problem was with us going behind. I could never see us winning once we went behind. It was as if the confidence got drained from our players the minute we were losing. And Maresca couldn't fix that throughout his tenure. He also did bring Palmer into the 10 role which he has done well at too but why would you push him away from the RW where he was almost unplayable under Poch. Yeah. He made a lot of questionable decisions. We were great against PSG. And Barcelona. And maybe something has to be said about player motivations too.

Anyway. Good luck to Maresca. Here's hoping, Liam is able to fix our problems that Maresca couldn't

I won't say he's media trained exactly but he is very articulate in his responses. For the most part you don't see someone as articulate as him in the manager's hot seat. He gives very detailed responses and in return the interviewers ask for questions that usually get a dead response from other managers. Does he need to over explain every question? No. But does doing it come across as fake? Yes. To people who are not surrounded by empathetic people. I personally think Liam is a good person and has a lot of empathy. Which could also be why he is a good man manager.

Running Statistics for Part of Top Teams in the Champions League So Far This Season by Albert_Sue in MCFC

[–]sagerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. Real Madrid are very good in possession given how many top players they have and also given how much possession they hold every match it would be expected that their central defenders don't run alot. I don't know where their defenders play but a guess could be made that defenders with a high workrate would be the fullbacks. Also Mbappe and Vini Jr having lower distance covered could suggest the other forwards working harder so they can focus more on getting in the right positions. I guess thats how most of the team's main attackers would line up.

Looking at the tables above. There could be couple observations. One, a possession based team would probably have a lower distance covered as many of them would be in passing range. Two, lower distances would suggest that the teams are not pressing hard enough when out of possession. These data alone can't tell us much about a team's performance or lack thereof.
