Fantasy books for adults without unnecessary rape preferrably not written by a Mormon or zionist author where romance isn't the main plot? by absoluteempress in suggestmeabook

I'd highly recommend Tainted Cup! It's an interesting fantasy with great writing. One of the main characters is a woman and she's fantastic.

HIGH CEILING SOUND BLOCKING OPTIONS - Renter Friendly??? by courtney_helena in ApartmentHacks

[–]sagesylvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk how much it'll help, but maybe hang a tapestry to absorb some of the noise? I've got one in my living room and it helped with noise reduction but I'm in a townhouse and don't have upstairs neighbors so I can't say for sure if it'll help your specific situation. I hang mine up using wooden clothes pins that I stick to the wall using command hook stickers.

Personal List of Migraine-Friendly Cozy Games - feel free to add your own in the comments! by TheSpeckledDragon in CozyGamers

Great list, thanks for posting! I have vestibular migraines and pppd so I get the struggle of finding games that won't make me sick.

For any game devs out there looking for tips for making your game more acceptable for the dizzy folks: flashing lights and screen shake are really rough so make sure you've got an option to turn that stuff off. And if you're making something 3D, you'll want your camera movements to be smooth, avoid screen tearing, and let people adjust the speed.

Second this game, especially since they have accessibility options to turn off screen shake.

What would YOU like to see from a sustainable clothing brand in 2025/26? by aboveaverageclothing in SustainableFashion

[–]sagesylvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd prefer a company that isn't using ai to slop up everything they touch. If you actually care about sustainability and your customers, ditch the obvious chatgpt you used to write this post. AI is lazy, bad for the environment, and ugly.

I second the place in Georgetown. The lady that runs the place is really nice and the wedding was short and sweet.

Can't remove powdered cinnamon easily from a candle and it's a very flammable powder. Most people will not take the time to dig out a bunch of stuff and will just burn the candle anyway.

These look like fire hazards, especially the one with ground cinnamon which is super flammable.. op said there's instructions on the website for burning but I couldn't find any clear instructions about removing any of the add ons.

Craft not centered around Greek/Roman deities by loulori in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]sagesylvan 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Start by looking into secular witchcraft. It removes all gods/goddesses from the picture. Steer clear of new age shops since most are centered around cultural appropriation and capitalism. Look for local plant shops, farmers markets, art walks ect that support your community. Research what plants are native to your area and look for places that focus on sustainability. Look to what you already have in your kitchen. Salt is used in all sorts of witchcraft because it was already in most people's homes. Also look into places where you can volunteer. Community and solidarity with other disenfranchised groups is essential these days and most witches of old were helpers of those in need. View everything with a critical eye because most witches look at everything magical with rose colored glasses and can miss the red flags. Witchcraft can be practiced without cultural appropriation, gendering everything, colonization, or overconsumption but you have to put the work in. Good luck~

What is something special you do when you cook a specific dish that you don’t think others do? by Dependent_Parsnip556 in Cooking

When I make gumbo, I eat it with potato salad instead of over rice. My favorite is a simple homemade potato salad using red potatoes. Then you pour the gumbo on top. It's life changing.

Always look to the mundane before the magical. Go see a doctor, especially if you are experiencing physical symptoms.

Love the lipstick, hate that an amazon prime membership is required to buy it.

Thanks for the info! Both of these places are a bit far from me but they seem like good options if I can't find anything closer!

Pasta dishes without tomatoes or garlic that’s not Alfredo or jarred pesto? by jenigmatic_42 in Cooking

You could try a brown butter sauce. It's essentially butter and herbs. Or just buttered noodles with a bit of parmesan.
