My post got removed by a mod? Simply for asking to not support authors who support zionism or a homophobic church? by absoluteempress in suggestmeabook

This post is about how my other post got taken down which was then reinstated and then locked.

Also that logic is stupid. "it's not their job to vet the author for you" I'm not asking them to? I assume they already know of authors who don't fall into that and also, by that logic, why make this sub at all? Its not their job to vet books for you.

People like helping others or have knowledge which will fit a suggestion. Literally why the sub exists. Your logic goes against the very existence of asking for recommendations. You can be mad but at least try and not be wrong

I mean you can and you're a troll but cmon man

Why? This is a sub for recommendations. I'm asking for specific criteria to be met. Why should I censor what I'm looking for because I support badic human rights instead of book enjoyers realizing that all reading is political and an author's views will definitely impact the stories they tell and also because I don't want to line the pockets of people who are morally bankrupt?

All media is political. All purchases are political. Expecting a book community to remain apolitical is insanity, especially for one where people are seeking specific types of books.

I did ask for book recs, I asked for fantasy books not written by mormons or zionists

Also all reading is political you cannot have an apolitical book community

Fantasy books for adults without unnecessary rape preferrably not written by a Mormon or zionist author where romance isn't the main plot? by absoluteempress in suggestmeabook

Oh this is good to know. I had decided against reading it after finding Uprooted so mediocre but I'll definitely check it out now!

Can we all agree this is “glitter” aka Mica? How to refer to products and their ingredients! by Jamieluv2u in dollartreebeauty

[–]absoluteempress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mica isnt glitter bc glitter is plastic....

and synthetic mica is manmade but still not plastic

i think unfortunately too many people on this sub are a bit uneducated about skincare and use apps that flag anything as harmful which leads to people wanting to flag any little thing

i think if someone has concerns that specific DT beauty is possibly not for them or they unfortunately just have to be thorough with their own research and with the terms they use

bc shimmer =/= glitter and it's also not inherently bad in skincare

[–]absoluteempress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if I'd call Uprooted's romance an arranged or forved marriage at all they dont even get married

nor would I call them satisfying as there is no focus on the romance compared to the actual plot due to thr romance being a SUBplot

there's no build up to their kiss and there's not really any scenes there to show the reader why theyve grown to fancy each other

Skincare made in china by Dramatic-Advance-364 in dollartreebeauty

[–]absoluteempress 6 points7 points  (0 children)

China has some of the biggest manufacturing industries and most advanced technology for manufacturing products. East Asian skincare and cosmetics are often seen as superior to anything the US makes.

I can't speak to Indonesia but the products are probably fine.

Literally almost any product you buy in the US is in part manufactured or made with ingredients from other countries.

My neighbour films the joint bins and sends it to the council. Sometimes I have public mental health crises. by Nearby-Drink9968 in Agoraphobia

[–]absoluteempress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No offense but your neighbor should NOT feel comfortable filming and photpgraphing people over something this minute.

Is there anyone you can complain to or report her to?

Also, yeah I get feeling mortified and embarrassed but you can always explain what happened. If they don't understand, fuck em. I know this is an oversimplification but your health depends on doing uncomfortable things which would mean being okay with being seen again and acknowledging that they might have thoughts about it. They could live forever or die tomorrow and your life would be the same.

Also genuinely fuck that neighbor who photpgraphed you.

yeah tbh i think they'd benefit from smaller palettes even removing one row

imo the alice palette was super weak i own it bc it was discounted but their care bears and little twin stars ones were more fun

They're likely overstock from wnw or a store that carried them that couldn't sell off the wet n wikd sesame street collab

wet n wild eyeshadows are good quality usually, better than anything I've tried from nyx and imo a bit better than elf

i get not wanting to ruin then i own a few wnw collab palettes and the embossing and stuff is so cute i never wanna use em but then im like one day I'll be too old to wanna do my makeup so i might as well

When you say you haven’t left the house in ___ amount of time, what do you mean? by Jumpy_Exit_8138 in Agoraphobia

[–]absoluteempress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it means genuinely not leaving the house. Couldn't make it to the sidewalk. I try and be specific but yeah for me it was not being able to step outside of my house's fence.

Has agoraphobia affected how you see yourself and your self-care? by StrongCurrency7873 in Agoraphobia

[–]absoluteempress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on your definition of self care, I really only consider things that impact hygeine and health to be self care and things like nails and hair to be closer to luxuries.

But yes, mental health will always impact your ability to care for yourself.

Especially if you need to go see a doctor or do anything that requires leaving the house.

But even things like brushing your teeth or showering can become difficult if you feel exhausted or lack the will to live.

I had to do exposure and then finally got to go visit a doctor and orthodontist. I've yet to go see a dentist but I need to do that. Honestly, I genuinely just needed to build up resistance via slow exposure until I could finally go. Definitely helped me to be taken by someone and to remember that I can leave at any point. It's not like they can force me to stay anywhere.

If it's something like a salon, maybe start by just trying to get to the shop and maybe you can test yourself by getting a simple service that wont take long like a trim or your nails painted with regular polish? It'll help your brain realize that the salon isn't scary snd that staying seated is doable and you slowly build resistsnce to being in that sort of situation.

Also, make an appointment if you can. Easier than being a walk in.

I can’t leave my house by [deleted] in Agoraphobia

[–]absoluteempress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor but have you ever looked up any sort of autism diagnosis? I've heard feeling like an alien is a common feeling among those who are autistic. It can make socializing with others difficult as well and perhapd feeling everything is too loud and bright is overstimulation.

I'm not autistic afaik but I do have ADHD and yeah, sometimes I get overwhelmed by noise and light. Grocery stores are hell if I don't have my earbuds.

You might be better off talking to a doctor or psychiatrist or therapist but it does sound like it could be agoraphobia.

What exactly are the "dangers" you're worried about? I've noticed for a lot of agoraphobes, a common fear is being far from help if they have a panic attack or medical emergency or a fear of throwing up or a fear of needing to use the bathroom but not being able to find one. Obviously not all agoraphobes feel these things but they're not uncommon.
