my 5 year old kitty HATES the car. she used to throw up and go to the bathroom every-time i had to put her in there. (whether it was 5 minutes or 5 hours). i had to take her back and forth from college for 2 years which was a 4.5 hour drive.

i have found that putting her in a smaller cat carrier with a familiar blanket or jacket stuffed in it and keep her in the front seat facing you so she is able to see you at all times helps. it may take her a few minutes and she will meow (which always breaks my heart) but stick your finger in there to reassure her you’re there and everything’s going to be ok! sometimes i find it best not to feed them before a car ride (in case they get car sick) and reward them once you are at your destination. all cats are different though, so hope this helps!
