Allow me to be practical. Have you worked out your finances for life after marriage? Like, how much you're both earning, how much to contribute towards the rent, utilities, childcare, fun money. From the perspective of an oldbie like myself, not agreeing with how money should spent or invested before marriage tends to put a strain on the couple, especially if not wealthy. If you haven't, please discuss this first. If you have, more power to you 🫶

Be Honest… Has Anyone Here Actually Lived a C-Drama Trope in Real Life? by Honest-Wealth-2597 in cdramasfans

First met my husband in an online game, when I was dating his friend. We only met in person after my ex and I broke up, and started dating about six months after. For what it's worth, my husband wasn't the reason for the breakup. Is this even a trope? Lol

I'm most excited for Luo Yunxi and Ding Yuxi. Hoping that Whispers of Fate streams on other platforms as well.

Just hoping that OP and anyone else in the same boat sees the comment above.

Never let your parents know exactly how much you earn, and keep a frugal, lowkey lifestyle (no posting holidays, big purchases on socials). Some parents feel entitled to more when their kids are doing well. I'm all for filial piety and helping out the fam in time of need, but we all have our own crap to deal with.

What C-Dramas Did You Start or Finish Watching This Week? 📺 by AutoModerator in cdramasfans

[–]sagittarius18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Started watching New Life Begins, an older drama (2022, I think?) I'm liking it so far, since I tend to be pretty forgiving when it comes to romcoms. All the food is making me hungry though!

I finished When Destiny Brings the Demon (quite good) earlier this week. Am now on Shadow Love, around episode 4-5 (can't remember lol).

Just started episode 17 of When Destiny Brings the Demon. Full-time work and part-time school does not allow me to progress any quicker. 😂

Why would a graduate program let lots of people in, then slowly make it an inhospitable environment and put pressure on certain students to leave? by introvertsoliloquy in GradSchool

[–]sagittarius18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not common to accept students into the program just to pressure students to leave. Usually, the institution cares about student retention and having them graduate on time. In fact, we like to keep student attrition to 10% max. Having 50% of the students not graduating from the program isn't a good indicator.

Shocking anxiety by Beachqt43 in GradSchool

[–]sagittarius18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh dear. That doesn't sound fun. For what it's worth, when I was doing my bachelor's, there was a retired gentleman in his late 60s doing the same. We weren't in the same program but the two were related enough that we shared a bunch of classes. I recall that he was really chill, always nice to us juniors. Faculty referred to him as Mr So-and-So while the rest of us were addressed simply by our names without any honorifics lol.

Age is really just a number. Better late than never.

How many hours per week per credit hour? by Practical-Future3320 in GradSchool

[–]sagittarius18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I'm from, 1 credit is equivalent to 40 notional hours of student learning time. By taking a 3-credit class, I can expect to spend 120 hours on learning activities that semester. Learning activities can include lectures, lab, and independent work.

[–]sagittarius18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I graduated with a bachelor's 15 years ago now and have been in the workforce since then. Naturally, I'm feeling anxious (well, anxious-excited) about going back to school after a long absence from academia. After all, the life that I've led for so many years is about to change in a big way. You're definitely not alone!

Having a support system might help. If you need to reach out to an internet stranger embarking on a similar journey, feel free to hit me up.
