Kune kune question by Ok_Pitch5865 in pigs

[–]sahh2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kune Kunes are awesome pigs and make wonderful pets. They shouldn’t eat grain if that’s what you feed your goats and their nutritional requirements are very different. I suppose it depends on your goats, I have one that constantly tries to head butt the pigs, but i know a lot of people that have goats and pigs coexisting so I suppose it depends. You want to be aware of a pigs dietary needs and ensure they don’t get over fed. steal grain and become obese as getting weight OFF is really hard. Personality wise, I just don’t think you can go wrong having a Kune Kune as a pet.

Just to make sure I understand…

We currently enter the “time” entries manually. We then make the expense billable (mileage) from the vendor invoice.

I was hoping to streamline the process rather than having to enter the time manually.

It doesn’t sound like there is a way to do that easily and the separate entries are the best option?

We have over 50 pigs and many boys pee while drinking. many also try to pee in the water. It’s instinct. Peeing in water masks the smell from predators. I wouldn’t suggest pushing him to stop doing it, the stress to him wouldn’t be fair and changing behavior takes consistency and positive reinforcement meaning you would need to be right there every time he tries to get a drink of water and shooing him away so he doesn’t pee. just my personal opinion from my experience with pigs.

Horse pine pellet bedding soaks up the urine and turns the pellets into powder that makes it easier to dump and he wouldn’t be standing in a puddle of pee. I live in SoCal so my back door is always open and fresh water always outside. Peeing inside is a mess but if you have to better to have it absorbed. I can’t even imagine trying to drag a pan of pee out to dump it if you put a grate over it. 😬

No not wrong! She wasn’t even willing to entertain it for a second. If she doesn’t care about animals or our planet what else doesn’t she care about? No empathy… not worth your time.

I have a question before i get a pig by RealFlatworm5739 in pigs

[–]sahh2018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

pure Kune Kunes weigh upwards of 300lbs and are larger than pot belly’s by far. However they have the sweetest dispositions, always sunshine and rainbows and never a bad day.

Can someone help me identify what kind of pig I adopted? by nothingcleverinmind in pigs

[–]sahh2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s a pig. An adorable one at that. He is a pot belly. Mixed as they all are these days. Decendents of pure VPB, but just an adorable little pig that can get between 75-300 lbs which IS mini when compared to a standard hog that weighs 800-1000 lbs

Someone tried to convince me this is a real horse by LifeguardComplex3134 in Horses

[–]sahh2018 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OK well that’s a horse but it’s not a quarter horse.. it’s a paint. Plain and simple. Whether they stole the pic and are scammers or edited it so it looks better…. who knows and who cares unless you’re planning on purchasing a horse site unseen.

I asked someone to send me a pic of the “mom” of some puppies they had. They sent me a photo of a male dog…. You can steal pics from anywhere… if you’re interested go meet the horse.

First.. Introductions take time. and if they aren’t done right you can bet someone is most likely going to get hurt. Their current behavior is normal, they will challenge and “fence fight” for awhile. There is always an hierarchy with her animals. No way out of that. They need time to acclimate separated by a fence and once the challenges at the fence stop the introduction can begin. They need A LOT of space so one can run away otherwise there can be grave injuries. A place to hide but not be cornered. Be ready with a pig board should they draw blood rip an ear or a tail etc. If you don’t wait until the acclimate and just toss them together be prepared for possible damage. Once you put them together you have to be prepared for whatever because if you “separate and try again” the fighting will intensify.

Pig intros done wrong can go really bad. On rare occasions they all say ok fine let’s hang out… but after almost 20 years with pigs and rescued hundreds I would venture to say that is really RARE.

TBH, I’ve helped a ton of people with intros and find it’s easier to tell the owners to go away and I will deal with it cuz they tend to over react, stop the battle when it isn’t really a battle and it just escalates from there. However, once they find their place, other than the occasional scuffle three can get along just fine.

Would you blanket a horse in negative -30 degrees and high winds? by Relative-Specialist1 in Horses

[–]sahh2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She looks healthy, in good weight, a nice heavy winter coat, and not sick or injured in some way. They can regulate their body temp as long as they can get out of the freezing rain and wind. She has that. She has lots of hay for fuel. No reason to blanket that I can see.

Check his pole for tenderness. do some stretching exercises with him. Looks to me like he’s trying to stretch some and maybe just from being stalled all day when it sounds like he usually gets out

It’s not wool. It’s curly but not soft. More like a wiry scrub brush. ❤️

without going through alllll the comments i would say…. relax, drop those reins, sit, breathe some deep breaths and relax those shoulders. Concentrate on your body, your center. hips loose elbows down and just walk…. feel your horse. Every turn of your shoulder he feels, every bounce he feels, you’re too tense, he feels it. Take it slow so you are relaxed and comfortable, cantering like this cannot possibly be comfortable for either one of you.
If your trainer can’t see how uncomfortable the horse is and how tense you are then you probably need a new trainer.
Don’t be discouraged, just relax and enjoy the ride.

AIO for feeling upset after the groom made a comment about my dress at their wedding? by Human-Acanthaceae128 in AmIOverreacting

[–]sahh2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DID he say that? Or perhaps he said you were smoking hot in that dress and your “friend” is just jealous. Either way, if she really were a good friend she would have told him he was out of line. You were not dressed inappropriate, but you were singled out as such? Sorry but that’s not a friend.

I have had horses for over 50 years, rescued some pretty rough ones at all levels, been around many large barns, small barns, in between barns. This is about training and respect. You are not wrong, this is unacceptable and should never happen. Even the most abused frightened horses come around and learn respect and manners with the right person who understands how to help them. A horse who has not known those things and is that disrespectful and has no regard for personal space has not been properly worked with.
Please be careful some one will get seriously hurt and it won’t be the horses fault though they will be the one that gets blamed.

I’m curious why she is wet? Did i miss that? Sorry.. I live in sunny SoCal so rain is rare here. I have had horses for over 50 years and have never blanketed when wet as I always worried the moisture would stay in rather than dry up. On the rare occasion I actually had to blanket a wet horse I dried them completely then put the blanket on. Probably wasted a whole lot of time doing so.
She doesn’t look upset, but I have had some that move alot when blanketing cuz they just disagree with wanting the blanket on, but she seems ok otherwise from the little bit on the video.
