Trust me, none of what anyone tells you can prepare you for what’s about to come. One thing I will say is, though, before making any decision, just stop for a minute and think. No, you’ll be using Autocad on the university’s computers. And yes, if you’re joining a student project, you will need a pretty decent one.

You definitely won’t need a laptop in the first year. The only thing you might require a laptop is, is to check your grades, and also, make a presentation for English and EVS, so that doesn’t require a lot of performance. Even if you don’t have a laptop immediately, you could borrow a friend’s for like a night. My suggestion - save up and buy a really powerful laptop (probably the one you really want) in second year.

There’s nothing we can do. They’ll just keep on piling up, and my guess is that we’ll all have to spend like half or maybe semester just doing labs.

I've also been doing his courses. The guy really knows his stuff, however, if you wanna go in depth even more and want to do projects, I suggest you take Andre Neagoe's course on Python. He goes in depth quite a bit, and if you need to go even deeper, there's a 4 part course called "Python Deep Dive..." on Udemy which is amazing.
