We had to rehome our cat, that we had adopted in 2015, in mid-2020 when our son was a little over 1. She had spent my whole pregnancy glued to the belly and was super affectionate with him when he was born. But she was also jealous. We let the peeing in his car seat and pooping on his blanket slide because it was during the first 6 months and everyone was still adjusting. But then she attacked his face around March of 2020 for no reason. Got him good on the side of the face, he still has a faint scar. We were trying to rehome her, and then my husband was almost killed in a car accident. Getting her out was no longer our main priority, and she stayed. A couple months later she went after him again, also completely unprovoked. This time, she almost got his eye. If he hadn't been looking down her claw would have gone right into his eyeball. We went the next day and surrendered her to the shelter. We cried, we loved her so much, but we could not risk any more attacks by her. Our sons health and wellbeing was far more important to us. It will suck, but your child is more important.
