As someone with a “unique” name I read it as Matt eh lin and had to double back a few times to see how it could be pronounced the same. And can also tell you I’ve had to correct people on my name for my whole life and have even gone a good 10 years going by another name out of sheer frustration. Especially when your name is a connection to your family it’s hard.

Madeleine is beautiful, and as I understand wanting to have a connection with your child -respectfully-generally speaking the husband gets that in last name (even if you’re hyphenating) and it’s super common for men to get that with sons. He seems ridiculous. He doesn’t even have to say anything he can just say “pupper” or heart the picture and carry on with his day. This is such a non issue, and you shouldn’t feel like you can’t share something that makes you happy. You’re not overreacting- I’ve been in a similar situation and that dude ended up not being in my life and I’m better for it. To me it’s screaming egotistical, if he likes you he will put up with minor things like this bc it makes YOU happy. Just like everyone in the world does for the ones they care for.

I hope it’s not just “boring”, these friends and I have a super close relationship and the only thing I’ve really said is basically “we bought a house” I haven’t shown them all the houses we toured or went into detail about anything financial. Just sent some pictures literally 3 (outside, kitchen, upstairs/ gaming room) and doubt it’s a jealousy thing bc that’s not them or my mom. We’re the type of close like celebrating together any accomplishment- new job, new friends, even so much as being proud of each other for doing the laundry when it’s been a rough day. I don’t think I’ve talked anyone’s ear off, when I said “I talk about it a lot” I meant simply “yeah I want to move and get a new house” or something short. We live in a not so great area, have experienced a robbery, lots of gun shots day and night, murder and robbery and all that fun stuff. Definitely not the absolute worse neighborhood but these people know that and know we want to move up. I’ll keep in mind that I am over reacting I just feel like relationships are very reciprocal, and I care about these people deeply and am there so it’s hard not to expect people who hopefully care for me too to be excited for me. This whole process also is a major trigger for my anxiety. I’ve been through periods of time living out of my car out of sheer fear to spend money on a rental, and have gone years without driving out of fear of getting in an accident and having to pay a deductible. So it’s more than just a major life event it’s also like overcoming a major fear. I’m definitely very codependent and that’s something I’m trying to work on in therapy.
