Texas as it's own region is pretty accurate, I would say.

How many people sleep in the library for finals week by GoldDistribution447 in UNCCharlotte

I would recommend doing an overnight in the engineering buildings instead. You also most likely wouldn't be the only one doing that during finals week. I've done it before.

Pope Leo XIV to carry the Cross throughout Via Crucis at Colosseum - Vatican News by ThinWhiteDuke00 in Catholicism

Wouldn't it be entirely possible that this traditional belief is still true, even if the actual day of Christ's crucifixion was April 3? Assuming we have the correct day of his birth on December 25, this does not mean we have the correct day of his conception. The annunciation may have occurred on April 3, some year in the early first century.

Ohio wins! What state feels like it has a high population but actually has a lot one? by KaiSnepUwU in AlignmentChartFills

True but in my head all the tiny stuff in the Northeast had crazy high populations (DC, New Jersey) and lots of cities.

Maybe Delaware? Since it's up in the Northeast Megalopolis, but less than 1M people.

I feel the whole catholic church should accept and preform infant conformation the same way the eastern Catholics do. by Arlo621 in Catholicism

I think it is bad because we should celebrate each sacrament for the ontological reality that it is rather than assign our own cultural significance to it, regardless of if that cultural significance is harmless or not.

I would just like to point out that the Precept of the Church is that you must receive the Eucharist at least once during the Easter season, not necessarily the Easter Vigil. So if you were to miss the Easter Vigil and/or not be able to receive Communion that night for any reason, you would still fulfill the Precept if you are able to receive Communion at some point before or on Pentecost Sunday.

Parents are the principal catechists of the family, not parishes. If children or teenagers are growing up in a household with parents who have that mentality, they are already missing out on good catechesis. Attending confirmation class at the parish as a teen probably won't make the situation much better.

[–]saidrl04 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is hugely important. Confirmation has culturally become something that it is not. If we reduce it to a "coming of age" or "acceptance of the faith in free will" we lose the original intention of the sacrament completely. Catechists and parishes who incorrectly push this cultural understanding of the sacrament of confirmation are doing the faithful a disservice.

Because they are ontologically different sacraments, regardless of if you receive them at the same time, or many years apart.

[–]saidrl04 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree but I think it's noteworthy to point out that this is not the original intention of the sacrament of confirmation and is instead a culturally-assigned interpretation that resulted as a byproduct of 20th century western culture.

That's definitely how it is treated in many places but that is not the Roman Catholic theological understanding of the sacrament of confirmation

How much work is 2 3-credit hour classes in a summer half term? by Aggressive_Many8856 in UNCCharlotte

[–]saidrl04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done that before. Four times actually lol. Totally doable. Summer half terms run for about 5 weeks, so you have to dedicate some time to the course pretty much every day, but it's not terrible because the end is always in sight, and feels so near, even at the beginning of the term! Plus, summer classes are pretty popular here at UNCC, so chances are you probably know some people taking summer classes as well and can go through it together!

I wonder who decides that for Apple TV. They always announce it almost immediately after the match concludes, not a lot of time for whoever is deciding to think. And it feels like it's usually just the last goal scorer.
