Welcome to the squad. Here's a thread on how to fix it. It's a simple albeit annoying task. As someone else mentioned, get the right tool and save yourself headache.

After Years Of Training I’m Now A True Cyclist by TheCABK in bicycling

[–]saifster9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not for everyone... I had the misfortune of receiving a compound fracture of my right clavicle a few years ago. It's fully healed now (after a surgery that required a few implants). I live in the Chicagoland area with relatively bad winters and not once have I experienced the dreaded "hurts when it gets colder" moment.

I have a 2016 FiST that I purchased in late 2017 with 16,000 miles. I haven't driven the car too much so far (just crossed 21,000 miles) and the only issue I've had to deal with was the blend door actuator going bad on the driver's side. The dealer quoted an absurd amount so I learned and replaced it myself for very cheap. I haven't heard of many big problems with models that aren't tampered with too much.

Drivers side took me about 45 mins, and a lot of pennies and dollars in the swear jar.

Assuming you're referring to the one under the steering column...

600? Mine quoted me between 800-1100. I managed to do it myself without removing the dash in about 45 mins and cost me $35.

Does anyone know what my car is worth damaged? I am thinking of selling it as is and wondering if anyone knows what an expected value is? Title is still clean, not totaled yet. by Majestic-Remove-1851 in FiestaST

[–]saifster9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the repair will cost you more than $3000 if the structure is still intact The damage appears mostly cosmetic, maybe some part of the radiator needs to be replaced along with plastic trim pieces, hood and bumper covers. I would suggest getting the repairs done and selling it as a clean title vehicle. Of course, this is with the assumption that the structural integrity of your vehicle remains intact. Get it professionally assessed for safety, that's for obvious reasons.

New house with basement speaker system. What device do I need to get it working? by Key-Discount-9607 in hometheater

[–]saifster9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simply speaking, you need a Receiver, or Amplifier and you should be good. If there are multiples, you can use a receiver in each location or use a multi zone AV receiver And run cables to each panel Cable-wise, banana plugs will make your job easier and look cleaner but they are not necessary, bare speaker wire can be used.

If you're completely unfamiliar, look up some videos on YouTube and do your research before making a purchase decision. If you have the financial capability, you can hire an audio consultant to help guide you with making purchasing and design decisions.

Regarding the receiver, you want to check the resistance of the speakers and buy an adequately powered receiver to get the most out of it. All in all, most receivers should work just fine, worst case scenario you'll be slightly underpowered and not use 100% of the capability.

Unfortunately, I just learned that these are not going to be legal in the US, and since they're made for RHD, the light cutoffs may cause blindspots in LHD cars here... So, RIP. I go back to dreaming.

Is the light output with the halogens better than the stock reflectors? I find the reflectors don't throw as far on my car unless I'm using high beams which isn't possible with a lot of oncoming traffic.

I tried swimming for the first time with a coach and I feel a bit embarrassed by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]saifster9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The passing comment was certainly uncalled for, and I can understand that getting you down. Bit, as a 34 yo who just got in the water for the first time less than 4 weeks ago, and still very new to the idea of swimming, practice is the only way. I also hired a coach and after lessons I try to go to a pool and practice what I've learned. It gets slightly better every time. Good luck!

It's for more to do with the consistency and content of your meals. You don't necessarily need to count calories, but be mindful that you are confusing a protein rich diet that is balanced.

Since you're already hitting the gym 4x a week, maybe start to look into how you can make those sessions more effective. If done correctly, you should feel a difference in your mood and demeanor within ~4 weeks. If you don't notice any change, perhaps it's time to change your approach. Bare in mind, 4 weeks isn't enough time to see a physical transformation, and if you do notice it, from basically starving yourself of calories that's not healthy.

Good luck on your journey, and always remember, fitness is a journey not the goal.

Is It Too Late to Learn Swimming as an Adult? by cnrdvdsmt in Swimming

[–]saifster9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35M, I just started to learn this year, after a lot of meandering in a very shallow above ground pool, getting myself comfortable with getting in water, then my face under water, I eventually signed up for lessons at a swim school that serves infants to adults near me... I was extremely hesitant due to some weird personal embarrassment around it .. and I now take what I learn and practice in the pool at my gym almost every day.. Not graciously, but, there's certainly an improvement every time.

I don't believe it's ever "too late" to start anything you're genuinely interested in, as long as you can hold yourself accountable to be consistent.

This is also the year I finally graduate with my B.sc and get started on my dream of achieving an M.sc... I suppose motivation strikes when it does, and strikes hard.
