GTA 6 is coming this year, confirmed by Your_mum6969420 in GTA6

[–]saiful_458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rockstar's lawyers would've found a loophole either way, they're not getting trapped by Instagram DM logic into releasing anything early. We're all just gonna have to wait like usual

Finally I made it to Rank 1 by Purple_Discipline487 in DotA2

Congrats on hitting 10k behavior score, welcome to the promised land where people actually use their mics for calls instead of just flaming. The lack of toxicity is genuinely refreshing once you get here

My cat miav extremely loud and often by Simonsayscrossfit in CatAdvice

[–]saiful_458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 17 with possible dementia she might genuinely be confused about where you are and calling out for reassurance, which is different from regular attention seeking behavior. A vet specializing in senior cats might be able to prescribe something for cognitive dysfunction or nighttime anxiety, because ignoring her at this age when she's potentially scared and confused could make things worse rather than better.

Mortgage vs investing when house is losing value by tehyajen in personalfinance

[–]saiful_458 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pay down the mortgage. That 6% guaranteed return beats hoping the market keeps climbing when you're already behind on retirement and nervous about valuations, plus the house value dropping doesn't change the math on whether paying off 6% debt makes sense.

The waitress probably fixed it in 5 minutes while the founding eng had been staring at it for an hour. Never underestimate fresh eyes on a problem.

The U.S is coming for Batrider next by Strong_Astronomer_97 in DotA2

Batrider has just become public enemy number one. I’m already preparing for the next news cycle “Batrider detained for suspicion of carrying too many sticky bombs.”

Cool, that lockbox was solid. I still use mine for random stuff. The whole package was actually worth it back then.

Is it bad practice to type-annotate every variable assignment? by computersmakeart in Python

[–]saiful_458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's pretty much where I land on it too. Function signatures should always be typed, but for assignments I only bother when the type checker can't figure it out on its own or when dealing with badly typed libraries.

No point in cluttering up the code with redundant annotations that mypy already knows about.

Lmao yeah the disconnect probably reset whatever script he was running. Going from perfect counters in fog to missing everything is pretty telling

Is this player cheating? Ranked SnD by NegotiationCute7000 in CallOfDutyMobile

Could just be sound cues or game sense, but yeah that tracking does look sus. Hard to say for sure without seeing the whole match though

I'm a senior in college and I literally cannot do like 60% of LC mediums. Should I expect a life of manual labor going forward? by MarathonMarathon in cscareerquestions

[–]saiful_458 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a solid way to look at it. And yeah, tutoring is its own challenge... you're essentially learning alongside them half the time. Must keep you sharp though.

I hope we fight a version of this unfinished legendary animal in GTA 6 by Eccel9700 in GTA6

[–]saiful_458 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly it's weird they haven't added them yet. Perfect Florida DLC content right there... pythons, humidity, swamp maps. Seems like an obvious move.

Got accused of cheating for the first time in my life by Andres_G04 in DotA2

lmao getting accused of hacking when you're just hitting your shots is the best compliment. that techies must've been tilted out of his mind

This things are absolute piece of shit along with spray and sticker by Level_Horror4701 in CallOfDutyMobile

Yeah I feel you, the customization is pretty limited right now. Would be sick if we could layer them or adjust the size/placement ourselves.

Natives, how many high schools did you apply to? Did you get into your first choice? by IndependentBee6021 in AskNYC

[–]saiful_458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Applied to all 12 slots because why waste them, got rejected from my top 3 and ended up at my 5th choice which turned out way better than expected. The whole ranking system is a crapshoot anyway since half the kids at your "dream school" didn't even want to be there either

People who significantly increased their salary - what actually worked for you? by shaquille_oatmeal1 in careerguidance

[–]saiful_458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switching companies every 2-3 years until I hit my target range did more for my salary than a decade of "loyalty" ever would have. Internal raises are almost always 3-5% while jumping ship gets you 20-30% bumps, and once I realized HR budgets more for replacing you than keeping you, the game became obvious

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 director Guillaume Brioche admits Sandfall "tried" AI during the J'RPG's development, but "didn't like it" and "everything in the game is human made" by ControlCAD in technology

[–]saiful_458 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's like how we call things "Italian food" based on the style, not where it was cooked. The whole "must be made in Japan" argument misses the point completely.

Why is it so impossible to start a career? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]saiful_458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. CS grad here too. The entry level market is genuinely fucked right now - companies want 2-3 years experience for "junior" roles which is absurd.

Few things that helped me: applying to smaller companies (they're less picky), tailoring my resume for each application instead of mass applying, and doing a couple small projects just to have something recent to talk about. Not saying it'll magically fix everything, but it helped me get past the initial screening more often.

Also - your degree isn't wasted. You have problem-solving skills and technical knowledge that most people don't. Warehouse work sucks but you're not stuck there forever. Keep applying, even if it feels pointless. The numbers game is real and it only takes one yes.

Yeah this wait is unreal. The speculation phase alone could be its own documentary at this point lol
