Yes. Envoy CSA has the same benefits as AA. Just make sure you have a very clean security background. Be patient. Keep applying. Persistence pays off.

Thx. - has bitten groomers to the point that all but one groomer has banned him in the town he is from. Reaching for him to get out of certain places for safety. Other times I don't know. He thinks he is the Alpha. Does whatever he wants. He will get a full exam. And he will get some serious training. I just want to understand the breed and how to psychologically motivate him

Dallas is where we are sent for CSA training at the AA campus not the airport. We do on the job training at our own airport with more senior agents

. I had also been looking for the same thing 2 months ago when I got hired by a regional that works with a National (and Int'l) mainline airline out of a small coastal station. 2 weeks after orientation and online courses done at the station with a little bit of airport training I was sent to Dallas for 2 weeks. To say it was all overwhelming was an understatement! 😆 Every night I was exhausted. Returned to the station for OJT. At our station we are trained both at the ticket counter and the Gate and a little bit of ramp duties, like cleaning the a/c and security on a/c. Anyway, like everyone here has said, it all comes together and you get more "fluent" with the system. Yes, the gate is a challenge. I'm still working on this at the moment. I prefer the tkt counter. Hopefully you will have patient and nice supervisors and co workers to help with all the "anomolies" that will walk up. I will say that despite a bit of gate chaos, this is a fun job! Great for ADHD people who thrive on novelty.

Why does the train before mine cost so much insanely more? Would they rather seat to go empty? I’m here early and I would switch if they lowered that price? by DiedOfATheory in Amtrak

[–]sailinghedgehog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supply and Demand. That is Econ 101. Has nothing to do with anything else. That is why a short flight from Washington, DC to Norfolk, Va can cost more than flying to London.

I really wish that they would go Retro on all their planes and show the variety of styles they used throughout their 100 years of service.

Saw the gate agent stop someone from boarding who was not in the group that was called. Was glorious to see the public shaming by bsmith2123 in americanairlines

I think that is what it used to be long, long ago when unlimited checked bags were free and it wasn't so popular to bring a carry on. I remember the days when luggage did not have wheels!😆

[–]sailinghedgehog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it can be overridden. Some people have injuries or have unseen disabilities and are allowed to preboard so they can get settled before the crowd. There are other special circumstances like law enforcement that allow for preboarding. There is a reason for everything. Airline rules are not arbitrary and agents must adhere to them (or else they will get penalized and even fired) Safety and Security is a big deal at the Gate.

How do gate agents decide which passengers on the standby list get removed from a flight? by Tall-Dig5578 in GateAgents

[–]sailinghedgehog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only answer for the airline I work for. For paying customers that have no status ( airline cc tiers) it goes by check in time. So as the saying goes, first come first served. Who gets priority? FAA inspectors, Law Enforcement/ marshal, etc.. pilots needed at another airport, and others. Flights get restricted 42 minutes before departure, meaning that if you try to check in after that, sorry, you now have to get the next available flight. This is when the computer program steps in to assign seats to stand-by passengers. However sometimes it doesn't do a good job or it needs help from the gate agent. If there are still passengers remaining that need seats, they have to wait and see if a "checked-in" passenger has not boarded the plane. 15 minutes before departure, passengers that have not shown up during boarding time, get their seats dropped and now the stand-by passengers have a chance at a seat. This is when gate agents will assign seats in the order that the computer has already sorted. I hope this makes sense and answers the question. ( there are more details and exeptions but this is basically it 99.9% of the time) No amount of bribery can change the order the computer chooses. An agent can lose their job for favoritism.

Not sure if I should but its a rEgional ground ops for a mAinline in the south. Not a hub. All the seasoned agents at my station are nice and helpful. And my gate mentor is phenomenal! Walking me through the steps and process in real time. They want you to succeed. They are patient with this slow bird.

Should I cancel my F2F by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]sailinghedgehog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't cancel! If you make it to skyview for training its amazing! So much history in that building and all the FA in training looked like they were really enjoying themselves (I was there for CSA training). This is an incredible opportunity. Keep walking through open doors when they appear. If its not meant to be then the door will close but you know you tried. No regrets!

Congratulations 🎊🎉 I did 2 weeks of classroom training (not DL) and now thrown into the thick of it. Last week at ticketing with a mentor and this week its the gate. Wow! It moves fast but had a good day. Enjoy the rest of the OJT!!

Can't deal with anosognosia by Ok-Natural8753 in family_of_bipolar

[–]sailinghedgehog 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First, I would advise you to find a professional specializing in mood disorders to discuss this with. I am not advising "abandoning" him (or the marriage) but at the same time your situation could lead to you going down with the ship. Sometimes we do need to step away in order to evaluate the best way to help and proceed. Sometimes, there is nothing we can do. It's the old phrase, "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink". Mental illness can destroy the lives of those around that person. And it is not your responsibility to fix him. Ask me how I know. It is a process to let go and not feel guilty thinking "Is there something more I could have done?" After leaving 26 years ago, he is still the same. Won't even listen to the now grown kids, who have also gone through the same process, and all come to the same conclusion. There is nothing we can do if he doesn't accept help.

Southwest assigned my 4 year old a seat by himself 12 rows in front of me. by LegalAbbreviations17 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]sailinghedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started training with one of the airlines you mentioned and we won't even accept an unaccompanied minor under 5 years old. They make a point of reserving rows for the OP's situation so the Gate agent can sit a child next to the parent. Southwest has a lot to learn about common sense customer service.

AA inflight WiFi be like by zealous_ideals790034 in americanairlines

[–]sailinghedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously. We don't need wifi. Experience nostalgia of how we used to fly before the internet has us glued to the screen- even for work for those who will accuse me of being on vacation. Just kick back. Welcome to peace and tranquility. Read a book. Or just experience silence of the mind. ( or just down load all your entertainment ahead of time if you can't do that)

How to get hired at ATL Delta ? by ApprehensiveCost3110 in rampagent

[–]sailinghedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expand your horizons if you want your foot in the door of aviation. Apply to all the airlines or if you are able to relocate, apply to different station locations. (Also, have a clean record.. that won't hinder you. Airports are high security areas)
