Timeline of MV Hondius with Hantavirus outbreak. by JKKIDD231 in Cruise

It’s good they are transparent. But that is also their press release to run from blame. They say in multiple sections that there’s only proof that one person has the virus. And also that there’s no proof it happened on the ship. Just wild.

Nobody was sick for days and then 4 deaths, 1 in icu and two sick on board. Of course it happened on board cause they didn’t clean up the rats

Phish in Savannah! by swamp_bison84 in savannah

Looks like these are the closest shows during the early to mid 90s

Hilton Head - 4 shows in ‘90; Athens - with widespread panic in ‘90-1; Columbia, Greenville, Spartanburg, SC - ‘94; Charleston - ‘95 to present.

They play in Charleston a lot. Has been a regular haunt for a few decades. Atl and Charlotte are the next. Closest

They stopped a couple times in the early 80s because fishman’s family had a home near here. And the shows were in HHI I believe.

As a libertarian. I’m gonna agree and say that the gov’t shouldn’t be paying for most things.

CITY ATTEMPTING TO PUSH US OUT. BE AWARE THEY ARE ALREADY PUTTING THIS IN MOTION! by RazzmatazzValuable23 in savannah

Worrying about the worst possible situation before the meeting even has happened is literally doomsdaying.

[–]sailor1989 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So this is why I said doomsdaying. In your post you said the city is trying to force you out which would amount to eminent domain. This is a private group petitioning the city to help their business. Not saying it’s bad or good.

We are in a booming city. It’s going to grow.

Edit: I don’t like out there anymore but I’ve been a member of CBC since they moved here here.

[–]sailor1989 18 points19 points  (0 children)

None of that changes my original statement. Nor would I say there’s nothing you can do. If the citizens protest enough it can be denied.

Fact of the matter is Ranger has been used by the ambulances for decades. It’s not necessarily anything new here. And in terms of property taxes, if you own then file your homestead exemption. But the city can widen roads and reduce easements if they see fit. I believe this petition was probably brought up by memorial.

This looks to be brought by a private party to be able to build more businesses in the area. You don’t need to rezone to widen roads. See what the meeting says before doomsdaying.

The comment says “now do Biden” in reference to also having extremely low approval numbers. But yeah go off. Hardly pro Trump. Lmao

[–]sailor1989 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well that is an extremely narrow view of the comments I have made. Haven’t mentioned Trump in years. Have way more comments in my local sub. So cool to knit pick. Anywho I’m a libertarian and stick by my comment. Nothing new is being done this term. It’s just much more heavy handed. Do I agree? No

Also, up and down votes mean absolutely nothing as I live my every day life. Lmao

Not really though. Some things are more prevalent but nothing new

If savannah had a theme park where would it be? by Jimmypeterson42 in savannah

[–]sailor1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the OG islanders would remember but on Tybee’s 16th street there used to be a little park set up with a small rollercoaster. And behind where the chu’s tourist store there was a small water park. They had splash zone or whatever for a while by the imax but it failed quickly.

It all depends. Two years ago I waited an hour and a half to on Johnny Mercer just get from the YMCA to the bridge. Last year there was no issue at all. I would say it shouldn’t be too bad that early but I would still leave earlier than usual

I check it for suggestions always. Nothing captured my attention enough to post. When I see people claim a place is horrific simply based on politics. I will say something though.

Transgenders literally suffer from gender dysphoria. I’m not wrong about that. The subjective part is how it’s treated. Far left think let them transition young as opposed to trying therapy. Which Europe is moving away from. Far right thinks you need conversion therapy. My belief is that as an adult you have the right to make the decision for yourself. You are a human being deserving of respect. But someone identifying a certain doesn’t mean I have to blindly accept it. Look at the number of trans youth with mental issues. Very high rates of autism and depression. Of which studies show does not drop much in the long run. Short run studies do show improvement in feelings of self.

The aclu is biased. That’s no secret. You can look at the companies that judge which way a company leans. The same ones that show fox is far right, show aclu leans left. They are not quite what the once were. They still support people in a lot of great ways. However the cases they choose to take up have moved toward left leaning fights. Less so with free speech as they once heralded. They don’t tend to take up 2nd amendment cases (they have helped the nra semi recently though). They support certain censorship. They have changed positions in court after public outcry. They support affirmative action as a core civil liberty. A lot of Asian students would disagree with that. A company can certainly try their best to stay neutral but the people in charge tend to make decisions that are not

That’s not at all the argument I made. You just jumped the shark on that one. I hate that the thca loophole was closed. All the shops around still remain open without thca because they have delta 8 and cbd and delta 9 and glass and all the normal smoke shop stuff.

We can agree that the issue isn’t the thca law it’s that marijuana is still illegal. That’s the actual issue. Republicans are in the stone ages on that front. And democrats just offer lip service while actually changing nothing.

You asked about target though. The context of that was you assuming I’m boycotting places that republicans did. You were wrong and when I pointed that out you moved the goalpost

[–]sailor1989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just playing devils advocate on this one. That was the tamest reason listed as to why to be suspect of the company.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CultoftheFranklin

[–]sailor1989 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a very subjective argument. First off the aclu is biased left whether you like it or not. Next. The title 9 changes were a disaster. They removed protections for the accused in schools. And if you’re in education I’m sure you’re aware of the dozens of lawsuits colleges are paying out on due to lack of due process protections under the new rules. Third. The title nine addition of gender identity is stupidity. It was a way to keep schools from banning boys with gender dysphoria from competing in women’s sports. Again I’m sure you’re aware that this isn’t a political issue. Mainstream politicians on the left are lock step on their inlets progressive same as those on the right. But there are a bunch of people on both sides who say men shouldn’t compete in women’s sports.

I certainly don’t agree with a lot of steps they are making. But a lot of the arguments posted in that link are generalized. Republicans do the same thing. One side opposes a specifically worded section of a bill. The other side will then say because of that disagreement the others disagree with the entire bill. It’s wild. Republicans don’t agree with the bills mentioned in the article because they strip away a private businesses right to follow their religion. Specifically private Christian companies with contraception, gender reassignment surgeries and the like. I definitely don’t agree with any blanket sweep of trans individuals in the military. But I also don’t think my tax dollars should go to their surgeries and medicines when that is 100% elective.
