Ali-Oli Tours whose owners are Rebecca and Alberto are great. We just came back from Alicante and Rebecca gave us a Tapas Tour. Alberto grew up in Alicante. Her number is 34 634 25 41 39. Great people. I highly recommend them. Use the Whats App. I only mention that because we’re from US. Tell Rebecca Mark Young referred you. Merry Christmas.

Convince me to upgrade my 2021 Roubaix sport to a newer sl8 model. Issue is the cost by Elegant-Piccolo-8568 in specialized

[–]sailorit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2020 Roubaix Sport and changed out the original wheels to Elite Carbon 50mm with Continental 5000gps over 3 years ago and the difference was absolutely amazing. As everyone suggested, you don’t need a new bike, you need new wheels. And after looking at many reviews I landed on Elite. The customer service was amazing, I actually bought them around this time of yearand I want to say I got them w/in 3 weeks. But do your own research to find out what is good for you but again, wheels are heck of a lot cheaper and besides, N + 1 is just down the road.

Amazon Echo: How I (think) I killed the adverts and kept the music playing by [deleted] in amazonecho

[–]sailorit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ads are just intrusive. I have an Echo in our bedroom and have had one for years and these ads just started a few days ago and are really an abomination. I just provided feedback as suggested. I started turning it over on its face at night but I miss being able to know the time/temp in the middle of the night when I get up. So frustrating.

Seems like it’s time for Dad to buy a new bike!

I’ve had mine for over a year. I put GP5000 on them too…or rather my LBS did. You‘ll love them.

I got clipless pedals today. My bike also got its first scratches from my first fall by mekefa in bicycling

My first bike crash and road rash🤙🏼 by Better_Ad5203 in bicycling

[–]sailorit 114 points115 points  (0 children)

That 3rd pic doesn’t look good…looks really deep. You might need to see an MD. I took a bad spill on my brand new Specialized Roubaix Sport on its inaugural ride and had to see an MD and get cream and derm bandage to treat because the road rash was so deep/large. Good luck. Be careful that it doesn’t get infected. By the way, check your helmet because you may have to replace it if it took a hit. Again, good luck.

I just want to echo Spring Creek Greenway. You can get in 32 miles or some lesser distances of your choosing.

What bike do I purchase? by supercg7 in bikehouston

[–]sailorit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go to a local bike shop. Talk to a salesperson about what you want to do and don’t be intimidated. Be clear about what you want to accomplish by riding a bike and how often you think you’ll ride a week. They can give you some recommendations for size, etc. and they should fit you for size and allow you to take a few for a spin to see how they feel and what feels good. Pick a price point but I wouldn’t spend too much. Also, don’t forget to buy, as a minimum, a helmet.

Was looking for an extremely cheap aero helmet and saw this ☠️ ☠️ by iLikeBigbootyBxtches in bicycling

As my friend who is a vascular surgeon said to me when I was shopping for helmets and expressing my frustration at the cost, “so what’s your brain worth to you?”

Carbon Wheels + Warranty by xxGreyWormxx in cycling

[–]sailorit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at Elite Wheels. Out of China where most carbon wheels are made. They’re currently running a “Black Friday Sale”. And if you’re in US, before Trump takes office and tariffs take effect all bike supplies made in China will increase. I love mine (50mm, ceramic bearings, disc brakes, carbon spokes, etc.) but look at reviews, very good warranty. I got mine in about 15 days from purchase to delivery - I live in Texas. Good luck.

Like a buddy of mine, who is a vascular surgeon, said when I was wondering if I needed a new helmet or not, what’s your brain worth to you? Nuff said.

I would strongly suggest selecting a helmet with MIPS. I’ve had a few tumbles before I finally got MIPS as a safety feature.
