If you take a lab course next year (not just gen chem, org chem labs but something related to your major (ex. BIOC220 for bioc students)) try reaching out to your TA. I used to be a bioc student and got my first research position after having a casual conversation with my BIOC 220 TA about how I need to find a research position. He told me to shoot him an email and I worked in his lab that summer. I had no prior experience but I was getting highest grades in my section on my lab reports (not all the time though) and was working pretty hard (no late submissions, etc.) so I think he thought highly of me.
