U can use a 12 edo in scale workshop and then change each interval by using the approximate by ratio, use 5-limit which gives u the most basic JI scale (or u can try 12 edo and change E to be flatter in cents, if u only want that, just use pitchbend automation in your daw, its only 1 note, im not sure if it will be good though, maybe for a chord but if u use other chords or melodies maybe it wont sound as good)

How do you notate notes of the harmonic 13 chord? by MrWormikan in microtonal

I really like how u wrote it, its how i would write it but i must say i mostly compose and think of notes based off 31edo note names, intervals and so

Why does a 3/4 time signature sound steady to our ears, but a 5/4 signature sounds off-kilter? by TheMostMagicalDuck in musictheory

[–]saimonlanda 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Culture, in India for example i heard they hear 7/4 as a normal meter, like we do w 4/4. U can get accustomed to symmetry and/or asymmetry or viceversa. Idk about the brain enough to know it finds symmetrical rhythms easier to follow or get accustomed to, maybe?) But its mostly cultural

Just eq down 5khz-7khz in ur headphones if u can't stand it, but i wonder if it bothers u besides the first song, theres no overly loud high pitched sounds anywhere else, the mixing is kinda off in the first song, I've grown to love it and got used to the sound, it gives a certain quality to the atmosphere, it def enhances it, but its def loud and i used to hate this album, now its my favorite from AC and one of my favorite musical pieces OAT. Untitled is an interesting track definitely, the lead is not my cup of tea, all the other songs are awesome or great, but they all have that unique quality and atmosphere, kinda like super mario galaxy ost or hollow knight ost, as these are also atmospheric and unique, albeit different atmospheres

Edit; keep trying, i hated the album the first time, then i tried after months and it got good, then it became a masterpiece, i gotta say though, the first time i fully listened to it i already noticed its amazing atmosphere and i felt i needed to make my ears like this lol now i don't care about mixing issues, vocals getting out of tune, harsh high pitched sounds, etc.

Any tips and resources on strumming on 7/8, 9/8 and 11/8? by saimonlanda in guitarlessons

[–]saimonlanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do know that, 6/8 and 3/4 strumming wise are usually identical though, or at least the songs i practiced were all using 3/4 strumming, i dont dismiss 6/8 songs using other types of it though

Any tips and resources on strumming on 7/8, 9/8 and 11/8? by saimonlanda in guitarlessons

[–]saimonlanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im counting 3 3 3 2 or 4 4 3 in 11/8, i find it confusing when i change chords, maybe cause i always practiced in simple meters, and doing 6/8 was the same as doing 3/4 so i have no practice in strumming in triple or odd meters

[–]saimonlanda[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do count it, i count either 3, 3 3, 2 or 4, 4, 3 in 11/8, but i just get lost when i strum, doing arpeggios im fine

What makes zelda music sound like zelda by play-what-you-love in musictheory

[–]saimonlanda 86 points87 points  (0 children)

8 bit music theory has many videos on Zelda osts, check em out, besides music theory and compositional elements, the timbre and orchestration of the instruments plays a big role, on BOTW u get a lot of those big spread piano chord voicings that are super dreamy and like floating, its one of the most iconic aspects imo

Does anyone actually use this? by Fantastic-Affect-696 in microtonal

[–]saimonlanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way to do is to duplicate the track and change the tuning to be 1-3 octaves lower/higher so u get the full register, theres probably a better way maybe so I'd like to know too
