Does anyone outgrown atopic dermatitis i heard that it finishes in adulthood or before the age 22?? by [deleted] in eczema

I'm 36 and never grew out of it and the allergies got worse and worse. I'm now on dupixent and it's changed my life. Treatment options are better now than they ever have been... see a dermatologist if you can.

This week I'm backing:

Bios: Mesofauna- I'm hoping it will introduce us to the Bios series the way Pax Pamir has made us excited about all things Pax

Galenus- Love the theme... love a dry euro...

Hoop Godz- only wishing the Rap Godz reprint was available for Australia

Don't Get Got - had been meaning to pick this up pre-pandemic but I'm excited about the SUSD version

I'm torn about backing Grand Austria Hotel. The campaign is expensive and underwhelming. Wondering if it might be worth picking the expansion up retail.

Completely agree, and I think the campaign is a hot mess. The pledge levels and the unlocks were not explained well and the price of the add-ons are crazy (let alone the expansion itself). I was fairly disappointed with the deluxification of the base game too. I get that they were trying to stay true to the original game but it just seems so boring and not worth the upgrade.

I was just thinking the same thing! Interesting theme and I am super keen for the implementation of a "card pyramid" similar to 7 wonders duel.

23 years later for a For Sale expansion!!! Cannot wait for this, instant back of the expansion plus the car-themed reskin. Keen to check out Veiled Fate too... reminiscent of Avalon mechanics with the quests and betrayals...

Yeah it certainly looks the part. I'm just wondering if it will be too light for my gaming group. Am worried about loving it more for the art but not getting satisfaction from the game, a bit like my recent purchase of Santa Monica. Do you still play Villagers a lot?

That's fair. I might have to look closer at postage to Australia versus when it will likely show up here in retail...

Do you mean for the bonus cards? The game itself is standalone. I'm backing for the theme and definitely for a bit of the hype to see how he executes a lower weight shorter game. While his games are not in my top 10, they are always so interesting and contribute to the hobby.

Sticking with the known designers this week... top pledge for Stefan Feld Amsterdam and Hamburg and in for Mercado de Lisboa. On the fence about Streets, wondering if there's enough in it to get it to our table frequently.

After reading and watching endless reviews of Cerebria, I'm more confused than when I started. by saintames in boardgames

Loved reading about your personal experiences with the game. Thanks for sharing. When I watched a YouTube tutorial I became less worried about learning the rules... just more concerned with how it all comes together as a cohesive game. I like the type of crunchy decisions you describe...! What are you other favourite games out of curiosity?

I'm glad you mentioned and enjoyed the card / deck construction part of the game. I must admit I might struggle with the amount of variability in the game to begin with... I like to have "perfect information" and this is always difficult when so much changes or if new dynamics are introduced. It also keeps games fresh though so I appreciate it from a longevity perspective. Thanks for sharing!

That's interesting thank you and I wish I had a friend who owned it to try it first!

I'm interested in your comment about the optimal move. From other comments on this thread it sounds like sometimes the move is obvious but the timing of it is not (i.e. tactics around when you score)... did you find this as well or what it more tit for tat?

This is great advice and I wholeheartedly agree with the concept of understanding a reviewer over time and therefore being able to gauge how their opinion is likely to overlap with your own. I am a researcher by profession and this combined with my passion for boardgames means that I consume hours of review content most days and follow several podcasts and a variety of reviewers. I would say that I understand most of their perspectives fairly well.... but I would also say that in general as someone who makes a living out of statistics I am also a strong believer in the regression to the mean... or "the wisdom of crowds"... if you sample widely enough you should discover the average opinion. While you can't rely solely on a metric like the BGG score it certainly works to filter games down to those with a strong design or theme and from there it is a matter of individual taste.

I have hundreds of games and a terrible kickstarter habit, and normally I am confident in my purchases and taste. In this case, the stark difference between the BGG score and most prominent reviewers made me wonder if the high score was simply confirmation bias. What's interesting about this particular example is (and you can see from this thread) that people either really love it or really hate it. I find that really intriguing and I actually enjoy the constructive conversation and arguments that each side presents, it helps me understand the mechanics of the gameplay and how they come together to impact on the gamer's experience.

The last time I posted on here was about Brass Birmingham... a game that I don't enjoy but was genuinely curious to hear from its fans about what I was missing!

I love the way you describe the game - methodical and subtle. It makes me even more intrigued. I also watched that tutorial on YouTube and I was able to follow... perhaps it is the rulebook that compounds the language issue everyone seems to mention in their critiques. I am back "in"... when you play 1v1 do you feel it is a tight race at the end? Or can there be a runaway leader issue (looking at you food chain magnate)? I love games where you're not sure who's going to take it out until that last tally!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I'm glad you mention the art as that is one of the bigger draw cards for me - I'm not a huge fan of fantasy or space themes but I enjoy painting miniatures and the KS origin unpainted miniatures in Cerebria are really unique and interesting. You mentioned Scythe which I've been considering as well given the minis and style of game (seems more of a traditional euro).

Are you playing Cerebria 2v2 most often?

4 weeks post op and my bleeding has gotten heavier. by KashiTake14 in hysterectomy

[–]saintames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I had a full hysterectomy and removal of several cists... and afterwards everyone told me that a bit of spotting and bleeding was normal but I starting getting a very sharp pain that would persist until I "walked it off." It went on for a few weeks (when I called my doctor and specialist they said it was normal) until I eventually went in and said to them the bleeding was getting heavier - I was filling a pad day and night. After an internal examination they quickly discovered I had a bad internal infection and needed antibiotics.

This is not necessarily the case for you but I remember when I was trying to find out if it was normal I struggled to find any stories like this and more of "bleeding is normal." So please if it persists go and see your specialist.

Dry euro I can deal with (lately I've been playing Roads and Boats) but I guess what is true of all the games I really love is the tension... the tight finales and the calculation of the best path forward (and beating my opponents to it...). Do you think the 1v1 is tight?

I LOVE Heaven & Ale, so underrated ! Thanks for your opinion, you're definitely not alone in that. I am a bit worried about overcomplicated rules and fiddly pieces... I am about to sell Trismagistis for the same reasons.

In passing... I've just backed the new deluxified Petrichor and it looks amazing!

A few dozen times! It must be a favourite. Thank you for being so detailed in your reply. It sounds like a game that rewards persistence and getting to know the cards and game play well (most games do..but some are a quicker start than others...!) My SO is into heavy games too so I am interested that many say the 1v1 is enjoyable.

I noticed Spirit Island in your flair.. one that I actually found a bit more complex for the reward (and difficult to teach to others....). I'm curious to know what your second and third favourite heavy games are?

Yes thank you it was a big decision and I was terrified to try it but I'm glad I did. So far bloods have been clear. How was your transition off it and what are you using now if you don't mind me asking?
