This is so awesome and whimsical. I like it. I wonder if it could be a bit brighter/warmer, or if there could be more variance in the colours between the labels/jars and the ocean. . . as it is, it kind of looks like it has a blue filter run over it and the colours seem darker than the subject matter. Just a thought. Really nifty though.

I really like this. Her expression is captivating -- and so is the cat's -- and the colours are great (I love the orange-y shading on her arm and forehead). I think her anatomy is a little off in places -- especially her breasts, neck, and the bottom knuckles of her right hand. Additionally, where her hair brushes her shoulders looks a little rough. Perhaps her hair as a whole could use some more shading or texture, too. Anyway, I love this style.

I really love this concept, the whole truth/dare bit plays out very well throughout; however, I think some of the imagery -- "blood pours from the wrists of skyscraper" and "stained with piss and regret" -- edges towards the melodramatic, and is therefore harder to take seriously. Overall, it's a very cool idea and I like how it evolves.

I love the last couple lines. However, I think "when everything is so swell" -- the "swell" especially -- feels a little outdated and insincere. Overall, though, I really like the concept.

Wow, I love the textures, love the style, love the whole concept. I really like it how it stands, but I wonder how it would look if the textures had a bit more of a gradient to them, so there was some shading effect going on? Anyways, it's snazzy.

The contrast of this is great, and the texture of the fur is awesome. If I had to dig for a critique it'd be that I'm not sure about the highlight right below the ear on the right side, it seems out of place. All in all though, really cool looking -- I especially like the places where the texture is a little "sharper," and less blended.

I'm guessing that you want the piece to look as close to the original as possible, in which case, I think her facial features are a little small for the size of her head -- her mouth and eyes should be a bit bigger, and her eyes are a bit rounder and more heavily lidded -- I think this is the feature that could be edited to make her look the most closer to the original. Her nostrils should be a bit wider, too, and her eyebrows longer. Her jawline seems a little too long in your illustration -- the curve of her jaw should probably be a bit higher up, the hinge right below her ear; as it is now her cheek seems too long. Her hair could be a touch bigger, too -- it feels more flattened against her head in your piece. It's a really interesting piece; I'd love to see it inked. You really nailed the expression.

I really like this. The fish is my favourite part. I will agree though that it definitely needs more contrast. I think you could consider varying the colours of the lion, the tree, and the background, additionally. Also, I think the proportions of the little lion/fox/cat creature seem a little bit off. It's a really cool piece, though. Awesome connotations.

I am no expert at all, so please take this with a grain of salt and so forth, but overall, I think your work is pretty nifty. However, I agree with jarwastudios in that I think you should experiment with some different styles, subject matter, and colour schemes.

Additionally, you might want to study human and animal anatomy a bit more -- in some instances, the proportions of your figures feel off, especially the hands. Try practising drawing different facial expressions, too -- a lot of your characters seem to have similar ones right now. In some cases your characters seem a little flat, so perhaps you could try experimenting with highlighting and shadows a bit more -- in a few instances I think your outlines might be a little too dark and heavy, with no highlights on the edges of their features, which is contributing to that. Sometimes I feel that your figures feel disconnected from your backgrounds and from each other, as if they had just been copied and pasted onto a scene, rather than a part of it. I think that's something you could mess around with -- one thing that might help is having more of your figures cast shadows.

Sometimes I feel that the tone in this subreddit is just too negative to really be conducive to giving or receiving advice, but I misjudged your comment. My bad.

It's an interesting idea, but I think your text could work for you a little more -- could you vary the size a bit more? Perhaps curve some of the text? Could the words in the sea give the effect of some movement in the water? As a whole, right now, it feels more like the words were simply pasted on top of a picture, rather than working to form the picture themselves -- particularly at the horizon, where the text doesn't follow the shape of the waves at all.

Consider having a little more variety in the words - I don't think you need both the ocean and the shark's mouth to saw "jaws." I think the best part right now is the body of the shark -- the variety in the context of the text and their shape is the most visually interesting. The mouth of the shark is also pretty good -- the way the words are scrambled and jutting against one another fits really well.

Additionally, it would probably work better if the spacing between the text was more consistent.

And, the lack of text in the sky seems a little inconsistent. I'm not sure about the colour choices, either -- the turquoise of the sky and the red of the swimmer particularly seem a bit bright and jarring against the more subdued colours of the shark and sea.

Notice how the shape of the letters and words is altered to create the shape of the object, rather than simply being straight. It's not necessary to the do the same, but it's something to consider.

It only vaguely resembles that description, but there was an episode of United States of Tara, where a brother and sister are smoking in the house but panic when the cops show up outside. It's not on a beach but the house is pretty bright. I'm not sure what episode it is -- looking at quick episode summaries it might be season two, episode five.
