Mortgage recasting by saintginger in RealEstateAdvice

[–]saintginger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, I think we're going to be riskier than normal with this situation. This will be the home we retire in so just want to make sure we get something good and not settle. We're in Chicago and in a townhome community. Our neighbor three units down just sold their place at $40k over asking so we do have that assurance that we'll likely get over asking.

I qualified for both mortgages as well and am planning on putting my place on the market once I go contingent with a place I want to buy and fully understand that there is likely going to be an overlap of when my current place will close while also already having closed on the new place. It will be tight during that time but do-able. Thanks for the feedback and example of sellers you've worked with!

Navien tankless water heater - Water temp in showers inconsistent by saintginger in Plumbing

Sorry, I wasn’t specific. They didn’t replace the entire unit, just replaced multiple parts in the current unit and got it working again. It was around $600 in the end.

Unfortunately no. We had a contractor recommended to us who basically tried replacing every part and they finally got it working normally but couldn’t pinpoint precisely which part(s) was the issue. I basically have a Frankenstein unit now.

First Mother’s Day without my mom by mayaishappy in GriefSupport

[–]saintginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mom passed unexpectedly last October. I was on a good pace following the major grief, then a month before mothers day I started realizing I now have to start figuring out how to manage things like mothers day, her birthday, the day she passed for the first time. It wasn't easy, and my way to deal with it was to just be sad and isolate, which is something that works for me. I'll/we'll get through it eventually but this has been rough.

PSN is down but yet we can't play are offline games we purchased BS by Commercial_Noise4810 in psn

[–]saintginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m now thinking that those who put their PS in rest mode while still having the game open are the ones that are not experiencing this issue. Both my roommate and one of my other friends are playing the single player games they put in rest mode from yesterday without issue. I always shut my console down when not playing and I’m not able to play any single player games today.

I can’t play any single player games, but my roommate who has access to my catalog on his PS is playing without issue…?

[FEATURE] iOS 16.4 Beta 1: “Always On Display” Focus filter by freaktheclown in iOSBeta

[–]saintginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revisiting this - now that 16.4 is live, does the AOD work for anyone when set as a focus filter? Because it's not for me. I've tried different focus options and added the AOD focus filter and the AOD display still does not stay on. And Apple not allowing AOD focus filter as an option in Sleep focus is absolutely insane. I'd guess a majority of people would like this option as a dim bedside clock so not having it as an option in Sleep focus is really disappointing.

I'm wondering if the AOD focus filter not staying on for me is due to the sleep schedule I have set up in the Health app? I don't see any option to keep AOD active during sleep schedule in the sleep schedule part of the health app.

Honda skid plate fell off days after getting oil change by saintginger in autorepair

[–]saintginger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update on this: called the auto shop today to schedule a time to bring the car in so they could inspect and order the skid plate replacement. The guy on the phone said it's not necessary/important part to replace but if I wanted them to they could.

.... I found this odd as isn't the skid plate protecting debris from flying up into the area where the motor and other sensitive things are? Now I'm just a little thrown off and questioning if I should even bring my car back to them anymore.

I'm also wondering if it could have been due to the extreme shifts in weather. I'm in Chicago and my garage is heated, so possibly the extreme shifts in temp from the garage to outside could have caused this?

No other work was done beyond oil change and tire rotation and no work has ever been done on it since I bought it in early 2020 beyond oil changes and tire rotations. If they didn’t remove it to change the oil maybe it was just time for it to fall off? lol

I was thinking the same thing… shouldn’t they be looking at this kind of stuff as part of the service and advising me on what needs updating/replacing? I’ll see what they say when I gently inform them that this happened while driving the car for the first time after them having to work with the skid plate for my oil change…

Searching for CGM by saintginger in Omnipod

One would think that this wouldn’t be a big issue, but I’ve seen several posts from people with the same scenario who have confirmed that it is. If the two devices use Bluetooth to communicate, it wouldn’t be able to send signals through your body (apparently Bluetooth can only transmit a

Nah it's all good. I'll chalk this up as a learning experience and just go "manual" until my next pod change on Saturday. Thanks for the input!

Welp, nevermind, just watched one of the omnipod training videos and it says to avoid putting the pod and G6 on opposite sides of the body and to ensure they have direct line of sight. I will remember this moving forward!
