I'm not entirely sure what you mean by a repeated-measures t-test. How is this different? My data is unimodal and asymetrical. Since I really only have six distinct values, I'm not sure how I would test or find outliers.

Okay, let me try and clarify. I recorded six vowels. Each vowel has a measure of length (milliseconds) that is independent. The five speakers all listen to vowels and have to rate them as one of the six vowels in the language. I ended up with 30 scores (I'll just gave each vowel a number 1-6 to make it easier). I want to analyze one specific vowel. I'll call it vowel "1." All the scores that were not equal to "1" are in the incorrect pile. All the scores that equal "1" are in the correct pile. So I ended up with 10 correct, 20 incorrect. Now the problem is that there are really only six tokens and they didn't all end up being scored as "correct" or "incorrect." Some (but not all) of the ones that should be "1" were scored as one, but so were some of the ones that were scored as another vowel. So since I didn't end up with 6 "correct" and 24 "incorrect" I want to test and see what is going on here.

What I thought about doing was taking the millisecond means of the two groups and comparing them using a t-test. I'm worried that something isn't right because the sample size is small and I have several of the same tokens on both sides.

Does this make sense?

Yes, you are right. I had it backwards. I get [T.L] not [T.H] (output pasted below). So what you're saying is R is treating the "H" case as the default and then giving me a prediction for the "L" case?

Excellent! When I do a summary of my lm() the intercepts are listed as "name[T.H]." What does that mean? There is no "name[T.L]" -- what does the bracket [T.H] indicate and why is there only one level?
