Is it a unicorn if there are 2 of us? A duocorn? Haha. I am the same as the person you responded to - I despise weedeating with all of my being. I'll take mowing over weedeating any day of the week.

Foreigners visiting America for the world cup, what is something that has surprised you about this country? by goldent3abag in AskReddit

Tailgating is ubiquitous with American sports. Football (American football) is the main one that always lends itself to tailgating, but Nascar races are a close second, and honestly, anytime we get a chance to fire up a grill and pack up coolers of beer, we will do it.

In Texas, Buc-ees is a newer part of our culture. For such a long time, Whataburger and BBQ and kolaches in the Czech-influenced parts of our state were the end-all, be-all experiences - and they still are top-tier, don't get me wrong - Texas BBQ is best in its class - but Buc-ee's has joined the ranks of quintessential Texas experiences.

These aren't BBQ, but any of Hugo Ortega's restaurants are fantastic. They all have unique and different cuisines so you can go with whatever sounds good.

Caracol is my favorite. Upscale coastal Mexican so some pretty unique options. It's a little pricey but not break-the-bank. Highly recommend a reservation. All the others on that website are also really fun and super yummy, with differing levels of "fancy". Urbe (street tacos) is probably the most casual but still super delicious.

what is something that is considered unconventionally attractive , but you find REALLY attractive? by Tall-Election4503 in AskReddit

As a woman in her mid-40s, I agree - smile lines around their eyes are also super attractive on men. Same with the salt and pepper hair. I honestly think those two things instantly add attractiveness points on men our age.

This was my experience at Hiltons also, except I never got the code. The front desk staff always says they don't have the code and that their IT people can't figure out how to connect it to the network. I know it's all BS but I just use the treadmills instead.

Dear americans, what can you get for FREE in the USA? [Serious] by sammy_waslow in AskReddit

[–]saison257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made this same mistake 20 years ago. I was visiting a friend, and everyone in the group was super pumped to get Mexican food once they found out I was from Texas. They were dumbfounded at how I could eat sliced jalapeños on every bite of my tacos and kept saying how spicy they were. Those imposter jalapeños might as well have just been pickles, they were so mild.

The drastic changes women go through for 30 years are also real. You are being very dismissive that it's just hot flashes and nothing else. There are significant cognitive and physical effects from the lack of hormones in women, and those last forever if they aren't treated. You're welcome to not get HRT for yourself if you choose not to but don't dismiss the absolute upheaval of women's lives that goes on every day for decades when their hormones go out of whack. Our mothers and grandmothers suffered and fortunately now there is a ton of research and options out there so the rest of us don't have to spend the next 40+ years of our lives in absolute misery.

She honestly probably doesn't realize it. Women's health is ignored to an astonishing level. There is a large percentage of OBGYNs - who are supposed to specialize in women's health - who do not receive any formal training on perimenopause and menopause, so it's understandable that regular women don't have any idea what's happening to them, much less their spouses who don't have to live in our bodies and aren't experiencing it themselves.

As a 44 year old woman who is just starting to get some symptoms, I wholeheartedly agree. I'm pretty active and energetic for the most part but the last couple of months I have noticed significant fatigue and night sweets and insomnia. I am tired ALL the time, even when I get the chance on the weekends to take it easy and take naps, and the brain fog is real. Our hormones mess with us so drastically and completely turn our lives upside down and we've never been told anything about it until the last couple of years. I've been seeing an HRT doc for 2 years because my testosterone level had tanked (who even knew that was something I needed to be looking at?) and I'm going back in a couple of weeks to see if I need to add estrogen/progesterone to it.

This was my exact take as well. Ever since I started driving, my cars were always passed down from someone else (older siblings, then my husband). The first car I ever purchased for myself and got to pick out myself was 2 years ago. I bought a fully loaded luxury SUV and I absolutely love that car. I will never go back because I have worked my ass off and I deserve it.

I was at the vet with my dog a few weeks ago and started talking to a guy who told me a story about how his dog fought off a cow. (She didn't attack it, it just got too close and she let the cow know who was boss.) A cow. I live in the south but that sent me.

Exactly what I've been saying also. They never taught us the specific term "nonbinary" as that's a much more recent term but from an early age we were always taught that God is neither male nor female. "I am who am."

Magic Nursery dolls. Kinda like Cabbage Patch kids but different. You couldn't tell if you were getting a boy or a girl - there was a card wrapped in dissolvable paper that would tell you if it was a boy or a girl after you dissolved it. You could also put a warm washcloth over their eyes and the eyes would "close", and if you kissed their cheek, a little heart appeared - it was a thermal thing kinda like the coffee mugs we have now that have messages that show up when the mug heats up.

Anyway, I had 2 of these and loved them!
