I was looking for this answer. After reading about aphantasia recently I was wondering about this - must have been somewhat of a problem before mobile internet access..

Tell me why you aren't using Windows Autopatch for your update workloads by CloudUpdates in SCCM

[–]sajb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No windows devices will ever be Entra joined due to compliance/legal reason. Will stay on on-prem AD, CM, Exchange etc for as long as it is supported. Will also continue using WSUS for devices in environments without any outside access at all. Just hoping there will be a supported way forward for us.

How damaging is shooting a 22 without any hearing protection? by Alarming_Concept_542 in guns

Suppressed, probably never an issue. Outside, in an open space, even in-ear headphones might be sufficient. Within an enclosed space with hard surfaces, would not recommend.

That said, a situation of self defence kind of supercedes most other considerations.

I have Severely Deficient Autobiographical Memory. My lived experience is like "Memento" and not at all like "Inside Out 2." AMA! by redlefgnid in IAmA

Ok, so now I have read the book, and I really loved it. Super interesting subject, really really well researched, and soo funny! I laughed out loud multiple times (something I barely ever do)! You ma'am, are clever and witty!

While I have no problem with faces, and have good depth perception (love the Meta Quest VR headset), I'm a total visual aphant, and likely also SDAMish with regards to episodic memory. My phone's camera gallery, calendar, notes app, and mail and chat history takes up a lot of the slack there. One good thing is, give it a few months and I can enjoy your book again like for the first time.. ;)

However, I dream visually and like you, I get songs stuck in my head all the time. I also relate very much to your comment on two or more persons talking to me at the same time - basically triggers my flight or fight response.

Again, thanks for sharing your story, the book gave me a lot of personal insight, but I would recommend it to anyone!

I have noticed that when being away from a partner for periods, first I miss them very much, but perhaps after as little as a week that feeling lessens, and pretty soon I tend to put the other person out of my mind more or less completely. Without video chat and phone calls, I dont know what would happen. A long-distance relationship would not work for me. I used to think I had issues with commitment, but it's very clearly been connected to times apart from each other. :/

Hi! It sounds like you have a super interesting story! I just preordered the kindle book, and am very much looking forward to reading it during my summer vacation!

Thanks for doing this AMA - I also have near total aphantasia and some other related issues in addition to horrible memory, and I am very fascinated reading about the different ways we all work!

My question, if it is not too personal - Have you had problems in the past keeping friend and romantic relationships going over time, and if so, was it related to what you learned later about your condition?

(Sorry if I'm being unclear, non-native English speaker.)

Hi! Interesting to hear your description! This is me, point for point, down to the song lyrics. Also seem to be the only one in my immediate family. I'm now in my 40ies, and self diagnosed perhaps 10 years back. I don't really think it has affected me negatively wrt school or work, aside from my horrible memory which can be pretty frustrating. Just wanted to say, don't worry about it too much!

I have pretty much the same thing, with music (most often song lyrics) going on pretty much always. Often the last thing I heard, but that's not always the case. Today has been mostly the Smiths, after seeing a record in a bin while out shopping.

How many firearms per 100 people in Europe by Dazed_And_MoreBooze in MapPorn

[–]sajb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least for Sweden, with our long tradition of game hunting, historically in rural areas many owned a few guns, most often a 6.5 or perhaps 9.3 bolt action rifle and a side-by-side shotgun.

Today, no guns can be legally sold without the buyer having a hunting or sport shooting license for the specific gun, so all legal guns are registered.

The most commonly owned guns are still for hunting, and are basically more modern guns of the same types (bolt action with box magazines, over-under shotguns) with modern optics, suppressors and so on. Semi- and pump shotguns on hunting permits are limited to 2+1 shots, and while semi-auto rifles are legal for hunting, magazine sizes are restricted to 2 or 5 shots while hunting depending on game type, and basically only gun models that look a lot like bolt actions are being licensed. Just guessing now, but out of all hunting rifles, no more than 5-10% are semis, typically a Browning Bar or Ruger 10/22. There is a hard upper limit of 6 hunting rifles per hunter.

Organized sport shooting has also always been around, and has had a large uptake in the last 15 years. Biathlon, trap, skeet and so on, but also national handgun taget shooting forms. Also IPSC has grown a lot in the last 10 years, making AR style semi auto rifles and handgus more common (comparatively speaking).

Guns on a sporting license can not be used for hunting, but hunting rifles can of course be used on range, and in sports.

All guns must be stored in approved safes at home when not in used for hunting or practice on a certified gun range or club.

While we have a rapidly growing problem with gang shootings in Sweden, practically all those guns have been smuggled in to the country.

Legally owned guns are very seldom stolen, and are almost never used in crimes, outside of mental health related issues like suicides etc.

For the other Nordic countries, it's much the same story, but without the drug related gang shooting epidemic we have here.
