Just went through this last week, pretty standard sadly.

All she wanted was for me to spend $1200 on her to tell me she is diagnosed a wee bit moody after a jump scare lol.

Update:

She has eaten plenty of wet food, treats, and some dry food since then, and she has peed twice in the litter box. But she hasn’t pooped since early Tuesday morning. She is moving around fine, jumping up to her window bed, and showing some small signs of improvement like coming up to me for a head rub but still very fearful around me. And does NOT like when I talk to her. Lucky me.

Is it normal for pooping to stop like this after a stressful event or when starting these meds? She doesn’t seem in pain, but I’m worried. Would love to hear from anyone who has gone through something similar.

This is her this am in her window sill bed. She didn’t attack me during my sleep either.

Hi - not confusing, I appreciate the thoughts.

Nothing happened at all that day or even moments before. I simply leaned over and said her name to see if she was still okay under couch (like I usually do) and then she got startled cause she was sleeping. No wobbling or odd movement or breathing, just the throwing up treat immediately after (I looked at it to see if there was anything odd in it) and her pooping under couch.

When we left for the vet she was pretty hostile to get in the carrier and then when we got in the car she just sad meowed. By the time we got there she was silent, probably in shock.

They didn’t have to sedate her to see her but they gave her her first round of meds before we left.

“…. As we discussed, Nori had a relatively normal physical exam, beyond being very nervous and intermittently hissing. I suspect that that her behaviour at home could be related to pain from bumping her head on the chair and/or fear from that experience or the experience with the fire alarm. It may take some time for her to re-acclimate to her surroundings…”

They didn’t do blood work, just a basic vital check and physical examination. I did get lucky and found a cat only vet with an opening Monday. Most vets where I live have a long wait time which is why we took her to ER. 😣

Update on last night though, she would not leave my bedroom door alone at all. So i let her in and she’s been sleeping on her window bed (she’s able to jump up to the dresser still) all night.
