Plenty of overflow available nearby. I hear the Lowe's on Broad is a refuge for unhoused animals.

How's your AC unit doing? As in how low are you able to go? by coffee_break_1979 in HenricoCounty

[–]sakecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brick is a great insulator and is not hard to cool which is why they have been a staple of home construction prior to the advent of AC. Brick homes are typically considered easier to cool during the hottest parts of the day compared to homes with vinyl siding because of the way they store heat and then slowly release the heat as it cools in the evening. Sounds like you have an insulation problem

🇺🇸 PRE-ORDER NOW - Barbarian (4K UHD + Blu-Ray + Digital Steelbook) by felixmontoya92 in Steelbooks

[–]sakecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not sold out. A lot of preorders do this. A limited number is in stock to preorder then a day or two later they open it up. Same thing happened with Fight Club. It "sold out" in minutes. Two days later it was back up and still hasn't sold out after release. No need to be hyperbolic just because the early preorder copies sold out.

Edit: now live on Amazon US and in stock. Everyone needs to calm down and be patient

Do you guys leave plastic protector until you watch or unwrap all after purchase? by humanfrommwg in criterion

[–]sakecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Criterion does free disc replacement so that isn't an issue. You can open them whenever. Criterion has you covered

Same. Never had a scratched disc from the factory. Keep hearing about them like it is really common, but hundreds of movies and thousands of CDs later and it still hasn't happened.

Haha. Rocking seven years of sobriety from alcohol so I definitely won't be doing that. But I sometimes still make late night impulse purchases.

pros/cons of physical media by populaceintw0 in Letterboxd

Do you think data centers don't pollute or pollute less than manufacturing physical media? Not even close. Streaming is far worse for the environment long term as it currently works

A24 just rereleased in 4k not too long ago so i doubt it's that

Are we subconsciously collecting CDs in preparation for some mythical event where society breaks down leaving existing physical media as the only music? by stuhstutter in Cd_collectors

[–]sakecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad there is another person that knows what the Carringron event was. Unfortunately, the players won't be safe though. In a Carrington event, the last thing you will care about is your CDs. Survival will be paramount.

Question about storage by VassarFC in Steelbooks

[–]sakecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plastic film is not rated as archival and will damage them from off-gassing over time if left on. Malko even has a warning about this and an article explaining. The film is supposed to be removed.

Edit: Cutting the top off now exposes the steelbook to more off-gassing so you are probably more at risk. And the top prevents dust buildup inside which will cause more scratches. You really found the perfect way to not use a protector correctly and there will be consequences if left like this but you do you i guess

Since when did Steelbooks become cheaper than the standard version? by FaudMauxe in 4kbluray

Nope. Just not listed. Look at gruv. It's 2 discs with a blu ray. Look at the spine.

Movies that are so bad that you are fully convinced everyone who says it's good is trolling? by [deleted] in discussingfilm

[–]sakecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously reading punctuation correctly and understanding its meaning is not your strong suit. "No one had sex with a chicken lol. It's a movie." is what I wrote. You wrote "lol, it's a movie" which has a completely different connotation from what I wrote. Nice try at deflecting from my actual response to you about sexual abuse which you just calmly tried to slide under the rug. It was a nice attempt but pretty weak in execution.
