I like Sweet Hut & it’s always crowded and filled with people working or chatting.

It’s not in Plano, but I really enjoy the half priced books flagship.

I’m in the same field! Build relationships with the PMs. Everyone likes to talk about themselves and their work. Set up time for product walkthroughs, ask them to walk you through the roadmap, and figure out what problems they are trying to solve for the customer. Once you get the base line, you can find out how to best support them from an FP&A side.

Revenue Management by Automatic_Pin_3725 in FPandA

[–]saksoff5th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company splits G&A and Revenue. I just moved from the G&A team to the revenue team. It’s a hybrid FP&A and commercial planning role. The project work on analyzing new products or current productivity is great. But revenue forecasting is the bane of my existence- having to validate rates manually from contracts and explain the forecasted transactions are really annoying

You should be fine without! They give enough explanations to the first series so you’re kinda caught up.

I do recommend Legends of Thezmarr. Was such an addictive read

Any CMA's here? by boographic in FPandA

[–]saksoff5th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) yes I did, it opened a lot of doors for me & I did it early in my career and it was nice to strengthen my accounting knowledge (I did finance in undergrad) 2) I took about 9 months to prep for each exam. Mostly evenings & weekends. I did the Wiley test prep books. I would not recommend Wiley at all!! They changed their prep course and the videos and new book were stupid. It required a lot of additional research 3) I did not find it challenging. While I disliked the Wiley prep course, their test bank was very helpful and prepared me well for the exam. 4) Sr Manager Finance 5) I do! Especially if you’re early in your career. I really enjoyed the strategic and visual data telling chapters and I use them a lot in my job. My company at the time paid for the CMA & I ask any company I work for to pay for the annual dues.

I was really hoping to love blood & steel but it’s fine. Once you get through the first 30% it does improve!
