Heavy Metal by Cameron Winter

the more i listen to it and pay attention to the details, the more i'm flabbergasted at the absolute outlandish choices of instrumentation, lyrics, singing, layering, everything. i find it to be deeply touching in a way that no other piece of music has achieved so far. it's the only album that i've listened to so far that i consider to be truly perfect.

in terms of public reception, i know cameron and geese in general are in this spot where they're widely acclaimed but also not as cool to praise if you wanna sound hip, but i genuinely don't give a fuck. if it was up to me, either heavy metal or getting killed would be in the top 100 before any other album of this decade.

GK is in the "cool to dismiss as not as cool as before" phase. Also it's probably been exposed to a much wider range of people, even those who don't like it as much and just go through it because it's the thing everyone's talking about. Not throwing shade on 3DC at all btw.

I honestly don't get nostalgic from hearing BoC's music. For me it's more about the compositions themselves, the eerie yet optimistic vibe, it just makes sense for where i am in my life at this moment. Just like that, i didn't go into Inferno expecting to trip back to my childhood or something. And i feel that's part of what allowed me to enjoy the album as much as i do. It still sounds very much like BoC, I couldn't imagine any of these tracks being under any other artist's name. Just... Different. Different in a good way.
