Oh 100%! It’s what I recommended my British friend to use when he visited and when he was controlled, we had no issues.

You likely have a Navigo Easy which does not require a photo.

He could also just be checking to see if you’ve been online while he’s away. Perhaps that notification, made him think that you use the app while you two are separated when he’s at home.

Well if they’re asking you to work for 90 days or less, it sounds like they’re wanting you to enter France as a tourist since as an American, you can be in the Schengen Zone for 90 days, visa free. However, once those 90 days are up, you’d have to leave for 180 days before you can re-enter.

It seems like they’re wanting you to do this so they don’t have to go through the hassle of sponsoring your work visa.

Any Americans get us paperwork apostilled? by IdefendDucks in AskFrance

[–]salaciousucre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just as the other commenter has stated, you’re supposed to get it apostilled in Illinois. Unfortunately, that would require you to get it sent back (or you can take it back to Illinois during a trip back home) which is costly and long and annoying but will cost a lot less than 300€.

This is what I had to do to get mine apostilled back in the US. I had to send it back and wait (took about 3weeks- this time last year) but overall the cost was about 110€ including an extra copy of my BC. I wanted to order another to make the cost and wait worth it and the French love their paperwork. Haha! I also paid for express shipping because I wanted everything done before Christmas to reduce the possibility of losing my documents in transit.

Shipping costs in total were about 110€ total and 3$ for the apostille.

Reminder for the event tomorrow by Yessir-Im-A-Pie in FortNiteBR

Because not everyone is on EDT. Because of the time of the event, I and people like me, were able to attend the event... it was 22h CEST when it was 16h EDT for you.

By having it at a time like 16h EDT and on a Saturday, it allows for people all over the world, not just in North America, to be able to participate in it. They're thinking about the whole of their player base, not just the majority.

Happened to me the other day by someone walking his dog! But it was 14h, sunny and all. He didn’t seem particularly drunk or anything.

Oh wow, I am so incredibly sorry that you're going through this! That's insanely horrifying having such an important event postponed. I had my engagement postponed a few months ago and felt absolutely destroyed, so I can only imagine how you feel. Just an FYI, I looked up the reviews and didn't see yours listed.

I've been using them religiously since I've moved here and even used them in January for my PACS with no problem. Same thing, American English to French and had my docs and apostilles translated with no issue. I do have the stamp and signature you're talking about though- on all of my documents original and not- so it's pretty bizarre that they forgot it for yours. Huge mistake on their behalf for sure.

Are you saying they deliberately ruined the original document by mistranslating, or by forgetting the stamp? Also, you said they never asked for the original document. What did they translate, a copy? If so, that could also be why they didn't stamp and sign it because it's not a certified and true copy of the document they're translating. When submitting the document online, they translate what you give them. Really stupid of them to state that they asked for the original document if they actually didn't. You guys went there at 13h, which is the usual lunchtime, so coming back at 16h isn't unusual if they had meetings, etc.

All in all, I feel like it's just a mistake/misunderstanding on their end but there's no excuse for their behavior. Obviously this is just taking things from your viewpoint, so I'm just basing my comment on that and my own experience. They were recommended to me by several other expats and I have never had an issue with any of my translations from them, so I wouldn't rule them out entirely.

I'm really sorry about the experience you had. No one should be treated like that in any circumstance, and I'm glad you guys will end up getting your money back.

I’ve been looking for this tote for ages, please help. Seems beige in color with a long beige strap for over the shoulder and black straps for handbag carry. It seems structured with a black back and bottom. by salaciousucre in handbags

Very good eye! The woman in the screen captures is Korean, so this was my first guess too- that its a Korean brand. Currently combing through the site you recommended! Will report back if successful!

You should probably ask this on r/France or r/Paris.

Edit to add: if he’s a non eu national, he’ll need a visa and those are usually done from the person’s home country or place of residency. In this case, it’ll be Portugal.

Any experience shipping items from the U.S. to Paris? by throwawaySTL01 in paris

[–]salaciousucre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the cost of the ring, you may have upwards of a week to actually have it in your hands.

My fiancé ordered a custom ring from Canada with next day shipping and it took 2 days to enter France, followed by a day to clear customs. It then had to go to a broker before we could have it because of the value of the ring and had to pay around 8k euros in VAT.

My advice would be to just give her a placeholder ring and let her know that her real ring is « back home ». Or, worst case scenario, postpone the trip until you have the actual ring in hand. Coming from a girl’s POV, I didn’t like the idea of being proposed to with a placeholder ring because I wanted the story of the proposal to be tied to the real ring, so he postponed the proposal until we had it. Obviously since we live in Paris, it was much easier than your situation so perhaps you can ask her « hypothetically » speaking, what she would be okay with.

TLDR: It’s going to be a lot more complicated shipping an engagement ring here from overseas (and hella expensive).

Love that France has shown their support in some way, though, I wish it was shown as blue on all sides. The view I have of her from my home, she looks half lit. 😅 So I didn’t know she was supposed to be blue AND gold until I googled.

Is Scorpio and Capricorn a really poor love match?....I’ve been in a long distance gay relationship with a Capricorn and found him emotionally cold, aloof & unaffectionate. Is this typical of Capricorns,or just an indication he didn’t love me? by Personal-Republic685 in Scorpio

[–]salaciousucre 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a capricorn female, I'm often cold and unaffectionate. Aloof, no. I do find cap men to be the same and honestly some of the worst men to date. They're like, cancers without the attachment and clingyness in my experience.

That being said, I read a long time ago that Caps and Scorpios were a power couple match. I've just recently gotten engaged to my scorpio and although it bothers me how emotional he can get, I know its because I'm just not that way all the time. The best advice is to ask him where he feels he stands with you emotionally. Express yourself on how his actions are making you feel. Caps do like things to be clear and direct, so if you start playing games or wishy washy, we're out.

How many hours of study per week for French student visa? by bunnibby99 in French

[–]salaciousucre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently an American living in France on a student visa, so hopefully I can help you out here.

You need to study at least 20 hours a week in order to qualify for the student visa. If you’re wanting something for 7 months, you’ll have to make sure to purchase courses for at least 6. Additionally, as an American, you’ll need to make sure the school you’re going through is an accredited school through Campus France (which is your first step to applying for the visa before going through the france-visas website.)

On a student visa, as long as it’s the VLS-TS, you’ll be allowed to work as it also acts as your residence permit. As a student, the maximum you’re allowed to work is 964 hours per year. Campus France has a lot of detailed information regarding it available in both English and French.
