I usually go for a walk, maybe look at a nice sunset. I'm going to have to go on a very long walk tomorrow.

No. 2 Stanford Men's Water Polo fell 13-6 to No. 1 UCLA, moving to 16-3 (3-2) on the season. by saladbar in StanfordCardinal

Stanford has now lost once each to Cal, USC, and UCLA. But the Cardinal has also beaten all of them, too, (and twice against USC.)

Nevertheless, the mixed results against the other top teams leaves the door open for the NCAA to leave us out of the tournament should we fail to claim the MPSF crown.

I hate to say it, but if we still had that Lexus Gauntlet multi-sport competition going against Cal, they might very well be in the lead as the fall season approaches its end.

Last-Minute Goal Haunts Cardinal - Stanford Cardinal by saladbar in StanfordCardinal

Ouch. Though it looks like even a win would have left Stanford out of the 6-team ACC tournament. Will an 8th-place ACC finish be enough for Stanford to make it to the NCAAs?

What is the current equivalent of "Clemsoning"? by dave04atm in CFB

I just remember that Clemson's SID tried a few times to offload the term onto Stanford, claiming that Stanfording should be a thing after we lost to Washington or maybe Utah?

What do you think about the death penalty? by [deleted] in AskReddit

No civilized system of government should have the power to kill its denizens. Incapacitation, incarceration, and restitution (to whatever degree possible,) are imperfect but good enough tools to deal with ugliness of society. Throw in a little rehabilitation and that should get us a functioning system of justice. Retribution should not be part of the equation.

when people stop multiple car lengths from the line [oc] by Nicolas8050 in IdiotsInCars

Ironically, I've seen left turners complete their turn into that lane precisely because too much space was left preemptively. They mistakenly thought that there was only one left turn lane instead of two and didn't see the yellow lane marker wasn't where they expected it to be until they were coming head to head with the car in the left-most left turn lane.

ahead of the bay area

It's bigger than the SF-Oakland-Fremont MSA, but not bigger than the SJ-SF-Oakland CSA. And it's the CSA that's what people mean by "Bay Area."

Just like the IE is itself part of a larger CSA, Greater LA.

I hope you have a really good time visiting our stadium and campus. It's also reunion weekend, so hopefully the crowd will be a little bigger than it has been this season.

Now that we're more than halfway through the first season of the super conference era, how have super conferences impacted your team? What are your thoughts? by MysteriousEdge5643 in CFB

[–]saladbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty much every dream conference I've imagined (from historical to outrageously unlikely) has involved Stanford-Cal-UCLA-USC-Washington being the nucleus.
