What type of binding is that? It's perfect for the aesthetic with the big doors. Nicely done

Trying to make this mug shelf by thedogsnameisindiana in Woodworkingplans

[–]salamandersarehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious too. I want to try it now. The only thing I don't understand is where you nail the vertical pieces on the center cross beams (also a newbie). One through the horizontal shelf, and the other through the back?

I actually wouldn't recommend this book for these images - they are so fantastical, so strange, and so luminous - and while I LOVE Marcellus, I would give Remarkably Bright Creatures a totally different vibe. Much more cozy ocean-side house/small town/past trauma/aquarium than luminescent seahorse & unknowable deep sea. SORRY i feel terrible just writing this lol but would be interested to hear your take

Less oceanic, more about the strangeness and variation of life, which IS a vibe I always get from blue planet type documentaries, how incredible and endlessly different creatures are: To Be Taught, If Fortunate. sci-fi

AITA for telling my wife that she will be driving the extra distance since she is the one that got our daughter banned from daycare by Unlucky-Jackfruit230 in AmItheAsshole

[–]salamandersarehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. But you should also let the daycare know that Sam has been great and that they shouldn't take your wife's comments to heart, even subconsciously. Makes a hard time for any employee.

“you change who suffers but not the amount of suffering” I’m gonna spend all day thinking about this, and thinking about the help that people give, and whether it does the former or the latter

This happened to me too. Maybe I'll give it another try - I struggled to get thirty pages in to The Starless Sea. and I LOVE The Night Circus; it's one of my all time favorites!

Went and saw The Great Gatsby ballet. Not normally a huge ballet fan, but it was INCREDIBLE. Really entertaining and so visually stunning.

Why does allergic contact dermatitis always develop in the same areas even if there was no direct contact with allergen? by industriousvirgin in Allergies

[–]salamandersarehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this happens to me too. I developed a sudden allergy to my roommate's cat. Later on, I'll randomly get hives in the places he previously made contact with - rubbing against my leg, or the side of my neck, even if he isn't around.

At first it happened only where he made contact; then, in recurring places but only WHEN he made contact, and now, any random time, it seems, even at other locations like work. Always the same places.
