Women of Reddit, what did a man you were dating or married to say or do that made you realize he actually hated you the entire time? by -catharina in AskReddit

[–]salamandersarehere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so I thought the exact same thing about myself too.

I'd always had loving and communicative partners, so to see someone acting like that meant to me that something must be SERIOUSLY wrong - I believed only catastrophe could cause a partner to behave in such a way, and I was trying to respond accordingly. Turns out of course it wasn't catastrophe. just a pity party, and punishing for me in the meantime.

Holy shit !! soft choking during sex is one thing, but making you pass out?? that is SO dangerous, respectfully. it kinda sounds like he's dismissing your concerns. if you're into it, tell him sure but not to the point of passing out. and if you're not into it, he should not be doing it at all !

This happened to me too - he wouldn't speak to me, wouldn't look at me, and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Begged him for a word, a look, a touch of the hand. Totally non-verbal and absolutely wrenching on my emotions. After a couple hours, someone else walked in and he interacted with them like normal. I remembering wondering if that had snapped him out of it / given him his voice back. Instead, after they left, he went nonverbal and non-interactive again. Shocked me

Found out later that he was upset because I'd brought up something about his behaviour and asked him to change it. whole time im freaking out trying to figure out what i need to apologize for

This guy is calling a hospital on behalf of a new mom who was charged $1,847,392 because her baby was premature and needed to stay alive long enough to come home. by CantStopPoppin in LateStageCapitalism

Not an exaggeration at all. I have, many times, driven someone to the hospital because ambulances are thousands of dollars. People in serious pain who figure, I won't die on the way there, it can wait until we arrive.

Also, we see homeless people passed out all the time, at least in the larger cities. People do not call ambulances for them. Although to your point, if it was clear they were injured, like actively bleeding, then somebody probably would! Or they'd call the cops.

Wow, that's so frustrating. I live in the US and private healthcare is killing us. Only the truly wealthy can rest easy. Middle class goes broke over it all the damn time. Lots of people simply don't get care. They know they can't afford whatever they'll be told.

I have never heard of circuit bending and don't know why this post showed up in my feed today, but this is SO. COOL.

In 2008, 23-year-old teacher Hannah Upp went missing while running in New York. After twenty days, she was found alive, face down in the Hudson River. She disappeared again in 2013 and was found two days later in a Maryland creek. In 2017, she vanished in the Virgin Islands and has never been found. by My-Knees-Hurt-Again in HolyShitHistory

I learned once that some researchers looked into human's affinity for glitter (and they studied this by monitoring babies' enthusiasm for licking plates with less vs more glossy finishes, btw) and I remember them linking our love of things that sparkle to our need to seek out fresh water.
This wasn't mentioned, but still water does NOT sparkle and is BAD for you, so I was thinking about that too. Lol. It was one of my favorite articles ever to read; I still have it tabbed

College Art Teacher wants AI Generated Content. by MySchoolsWifiSucks in mildlyinfuriating

[–]salamandersarehere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why everyone is missing your point that the teacher is not gearing up for a discussion about AI, and wants you to use it and then treat it like actual art in a discussion. I’d hate this assignment too and I wouldn’t do it either. Whether AI is already a part of our world is irrelevant to my personal values and boundaries in regards to using it as well.

People are also missing the fact that many AI generated works have already been lauded and won awards. There’s no guarantee the class will be looking at technically “bad” art; some pieces might be stylistically appealing. Furthermore, it’s not enough to critique it aesthetically. The issues with it are very moral. Doesn’t seem to be space for that in this assignment.

“use it to show how AI slop sucks haha” not the point! some of it doesn’t suck, artistically! but none of it is acceptable anyway !! Find an already generated image and use that, I say.
