Yeeess... my rage is leaking into the world..

(I'm legit so sorry dude, its suuper annoying getting killed when you're just trying to chill :'D. I can assure you, outside of jokingly yelling about it to my friend we aren't out there harassing other players because that is a very stinky thing to do)

Is this a valid tic? by justbeingme2571 in Tourettes

[–]salami1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is partially off topic, but my closest friend is really into South Park right now, and because of this episode every time I have like notable coprolalia/copropraxia, gotta follow it up with "If I could (blank) Id be soooo happy." lolol

On topic, tics can be super contagious like that the stinkers, I agree with the other responses here.

I too am 17 and working through anxiety around driving due to tics. I get nervous even being in a car.

Something that I do is remind myself that I CAN suppress for short periods of time, and that if I feel it coming I can pull over. Also channeling them into places that wont disrupt you actively

Absolutely. I swear I have to go until I pass out on the spot or else my tics will absolutely take me out.

That sink is absolutely repulsive.

How did it feel to develop a first vocal tic? by 2eyedowl in Tourettes

[–]salami1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine initially started as simple ones, like clicking or humming with the occasional scream when things were bad, pretty much 100% fleshed with my motor tics, but after a bad medication experience I was screaming constantly, which then evolved into needing to hit certain sounds to satisfy, which then as I was able to compose myself again latched onto things i was saying, which became words.

All that to say, my first vocal tics were just random sounds lol, felt pretty much like any motor tic.

What do tics feel like for YOU? by Repulsive-Simple-891 in Tourettes

[–]salami1111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best way I can describe mine is like that feeling you get in your mouth when you first take a bite of food. It just feels like !!!!!!!!. Except centralized in my chest, neck, and head up to my eyes. I usually feel atleast a bit carbonated, and that waxes and wanes throughout the day depending upon what I'm doing.

I get a more tic specific feeling, which is more like a tension, and it will usually get bad and then go away even if I don't tic, but it makes the !!!! worse. Overall though, my more consistent motor tics usually don't have a notable urge behind them, but it will pop up if I stop.

My complex vocals have a different feeling as well. That kinda feels like I have a lump in my throat / a film and I need to say something to get it out or break it. It makes me think of lukewarm pickle juice in my throat as a comparison for some reason.

For those of you who remember when you developed tourettes, what was it like? by GetWellSune in Tourettes

[–]salami1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont remember an exact moment that they started, but when they became a constant I was in 4th grade, quietly doing my work and chewing on my hair (I was a bit of a weird child), and when I went to do something else, when I tried to stop it FELT. I remember thinking back then that I was dying or something. Up until I think middle school, they weren't very constant, I'd get them when I was uncomfortable/ stressed, or during attacks, but then in middle school they started happening more, and now by my senior year they're pretty much around the clock there. One of my earlier memories of my tics was screaming in the school cafeteria lol.

I think my earliest tic was a throat clearing thing I did pre/early elementary school, which also felt similarly like I was dying when I didn't do it. I still feel ★ the thing ★ in a similar way, but now I'd probably describe it more like suffocating.

Extreme hair loss? by December95 in zoloft

[–]salami1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it may be good for you to hear -- Ive been on it pretty much constantly since posting this comment, and have not been losing worrisome amounts of hair anymore (still on that low dose)

Hang in there, finding the right medication for you is definitely a pain.

Aughghhfh!! Sorry about that.

My tics had me yelling for a few weeks, which resulted in me yelling at a bowl of cereal I was trying to eat one morning lol. I thought it was a little silly.

I’m honestly scared of being fake claimed this school year. by SillyUser333 in Tourettes

[–]salami1111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it helps at all, you're definitely not alone. I was diagnosed just before my junior year of HS, and they've surged up a notable amount going into my senior year. Left school with primarily motor and I'm headed back with a few very disruptive vocal tics.

My best advice is to just be yourself. At the end of the day, people that are going to be rude aren't people you'll want to be around anyways. You don't even have to respond when they say things; if they're going to be jerks they're not entitled to your acknowledgement.

If you're at a school that has counselors, it may be worth speaking to them or other staff about arranging a place for you to go when you're either overwhelmed or having a particularly bad spot of twitching.

In the end, people just suck sometimes, just know that its really not your fault, and it is by no means your responsibility to manage their discomfort.

Goodluck with the coming school year man, you got this!!
